Saint Clair is the perfect restaurant to visit with family from Rotorua. All our meals and dietary requirements were met, with great service in a very timely manner. The outdoor seating is perfect to sit back and enjoy the atmosphere.

We visited for a wine tasting, we had a great experience and thought our host had good knowledge of the wines and area.
I was disappointed that our teenager daughter (16yrs) was not able to do the tasting with us. This was the only cellar door that she wasn't able to participate. Still definitely worth a visit.
We loved tasting the grapes out the front off the vines

Villa Maria is worth the visit and wine tasting. It would have been nice if a little more was on offer, a space to sit down and relax and enjoy a lunch would have been great. Friendly staff, with a whole lot to share on the history and wine.

There is a lot of branding here so there is no mistaking about where you are regardless of how much wine you've been tasting! From the entrance, to the deck chairs, the parasols, the staff aprons, the mirrors and even the paper coasters slipped onto the stem of your glass to indicate which wine your tasting - welcome to Cloudy Bay. You can purchase lots of merchandise too...we stretched to a postcard.

The arrangements for the tastings are probably dictated by the sheer volume of visitors and when we got to the counter we just selected which of the three options we wanted. In our case my wife wanted to just try the Sauvignon Blancs so had the "S/B Immersion" ($15) - S/B 2019, S/B 2006 & Te Koko S/B 2015. I had the "Experience" ($10) which consisted of the Pelorus NV, the S/B 2019, Chardonnay 2017 and the Pinot Noir 2017.

We were then provided with a sheet with brief notes on each wine and not to miss an opportunity an order form on the reverse! We got our first glass, with the paper coaster to identify the wine and were invited to wander into the garden or take a seat in the tasting room to enjoy. This of course cleared the way for their next guest. Some may think it lacks the detailed discussion however we were quite happy to just enjoy the wine.

The whole place is finished to a high standard and the grounds well maintained. You need to walk over towards the boundary with the vines to appreciate the setting - the mountain backdrop just like the bottle label.

Sitting at a picnic bench trying the wines was very pleasant in the sunshine and it got us off our bikes for a bit longer. (There are bike stands at the front of the building). We had lunch earlier so made do with the odd plain cracker which were placed on the bar. There are light bites to purchase if required. My wife surprised me by checking on the background music being played in the tasting room as she was enjoying listening to it - Chet Baker, the jazz musician. Jazz? She'd obviously had too much to drink ;-)

On departure we purchased a bottle of our preferred choice - the 2019 Sauvignon Blanc - and received a $5 discount off the $33.90 cost in view of having paid $25 for the tastings.

We were last here years ago when we dropped in for a pre-flight tasting instead of hanging around Blenheim Airport in the lounge. At that time we'd began to believe Cloudy Bay was over-hyped but had been surprised about how much we had enjoyed the tasting and our faith had been restored. This time around we still enjoyed the experience but exited to board our e-bikes instead.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

We visited in March 2020, pre Covid-19 lockdown.

Arrived at Huia and it was so refreshing to be served by Sophie. Delightful, informative and passionate about her family wine. It made our tasting experience special. Oh and the wines were pretty special too!

We popped into Hunter Wine for a tasting at about 3.20pm knowing they close at 4.00pm.
We were greeted in a most friendly way and invited out to the garden to sit and enjoy the surroundings and a tasting. The lady taking care of us (and please accept our apologies for not remembering your name) was a delight, so friendly, knowledgeable and informative. We were so impressed with her.
There is a great variety of wines to taste and whilst we were not necessarily looking to buy we ended up purchasing 12 bottles of different types. They even arrange shipping for only $8.
This is an unpretentious winery clearly operated with love and we highly recommend a visit.

The Spy Valley wine tasting experience was very pleasant and memorable for us. We tasted a few red and a few whites here. Along with the wines we also ordered a cheese platter and had a lovely experience with the wine, cheese and the view. The staff was very friendly and relaxed. They tried to accommodate all our requests, answered all our questions about the wine and the local cheeses and made us feel very comfortable. Strongly recommend going here. Also, a great spot for good photos with the vineyard.

Visited Whitehaven cellar door on a McLachan wine tour and the hostess was great very helpful and certainly knew her wines. Unable to purchase at the time but have made up for that since getting back to Northland by using their website. If you are in Blenheim it's a must visit cellar door with great wines.

We have both just tried the 2021 Gewurztraminer. "It has a beautiful bouquet..light sweet notes to start..trailing off to peach and caramel tonnes..simply delishicious" and "pure nectare from the golds". Always such a great service and a joy to be able to enjoy such beautiful wine. Well done team Debbie and Ian xx

Very good tasting experience with someone how guided you through the versatile assortment, but the real treat was the restaurant and the excellent matching of wine and food, that really was something to remember. And the view is also something extra.

The wine did travel OK and we have tasted it coming home - still excellent!
