Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were with a tour group and this was one of the events. Large boat to tour the Fjords. Great box lunch. Coffee bar that had good lattes. The boat trip was very cool. The captain gets up close to the canyon walls to offer a great view of the waterfalls. He pointed out pods of dolphins. Offered some facts about the history of the sound. Great half day activity. Go in the morning to beat the afternoon crowds of tourist buses.

These gardens are outstanding! Very large with an incredible collection of trees & plants from around the world. The big tree collection is impressive & the conservatory has an amazing collection of diverse & beautiful plants. You could wander here for hours! Highly recommend.

The first Sound of 3 my Celebrity cruise included in April 2024. Gorgeous and peaceful as we sailed through the Sound. Reminded me of the sail in to Kotor, Montenegro.

Stunning view of The Church of Good Shepherd and the Lake Tekapo. The volunteer staff at the church were warm and welcoming. However, it was disconcerting and ludicrous to find you had to pay to go to the toilets in the park. Not ideal when you have no warning and you are desperate. Other travellers were not impressed either!

This was fun and we liked the tram museum which was free. Then it’s a nice walk down through the botanical gardens - nice roses

You can see the rocks from a regular road on the way to the paid walk. There are even parking places to take off from you car and take some pictures.
The paid walk itself is something for about 30 minutes, taking you in between few of these rocks, making the experience more intensive and the rocks much closer.
In any case, I see this almost like a hidden gem of South Island, as it wasn't necessarily on my bucket list for New Zealand. But I stopped at the place anyway, and enjoying it a lot, in the end.

I had a great time at the Kiwi Park! I spent three hours there and attended the Kiwi encounter and conservation show, which were both very engaging and educational. The staff were so kind and welcoming, they were all willing to chat and offer more information. I also learned a lot that I didn’t already know about bees and New Zealand honey which was an added positive. The only downside (which isn’t the fault of the staff or park) is that several other visitors ignored the rules and took flash photography of the Kiwis which was really disappointing - please don’t do that if you visit! I’d gladly come back and bring more people with me, a highlight of my trip to Queenstown for sure.

Friends and I took gondala ride in to top on very sunny autumn afternoon. Was fab experience and views are outstanding. The cafe and visitors centre is cool with a short visitor experience in the ground floor. Bit of a wait but cute ride..
We walked back down one of the steep trails to Lyttleton had a beer and caught No 8 bus back to car park.. very nice way to spend afternoon.
One annoyance was lack of signage and directions on trails from visitor center.

This is a must do if you are in the area of Lake Te Anau. A 30 minute boat ride gets you to the glow worm caves where you have a guided tour on catwalks then in a boat in the pitch dark. Guide gave us a brief history before the tour started. Maximum of 12 people per tour. Interesting video afterward in the station where they offer tea and coffee. This place is amazing.

I was totally impressed with the museum. It covers Otago from the first people up to today. It has detail aplenty, or you can just walk through the collection and see the changes over the years. At least an hour but you could spend much more,
It has been so well done utilising a number of buildings a d starting in a new modern one. You seamlessly walk through and end up in the old road authority art Deco building. Remember to get a shot of it from the outside too.

My favourite was the huge mainframe computer with a humongous 12k or so of memory.
    A must do in Dunedin.
