Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- PazA32 contributionsWe heard about Zealandia while we were in Wellington and decided to visit. In short, it is amazing!!
For those new to this, Zealandia is an eco sanctuary which is entirely enclosed and pest free. The sanctuary is designed to protect species that were at risk in Aotearoea including Tui, Takahe, Tuatara and Kiwi.
Zealandia runs 2 electric shuttles which are free but you can also donate to them using the box within the shuttles.
The shuttles pick up from opposite the Anora hotel near iSite (where Weta and other day trips also do pick ups and drop offs) and also from the top of the cable cars. Both gave their own timetables which I can pick up either from iSite, Zealandia or the cable cars.
Visitors have the option of entry alone or various different guided tours in the day, evening or night.
We opted for entry and were amazed at how beautiful and stunning the sanctuary is.
Visitors will have to conduct bio security checks on their clothing/bags prior to entry but once inside there are various different paths to view the sanctuary and wildlife.
Visitors can travel to a heritage area with viewing tower for some great views.
Along the way, there are feeding stations where you can see Kaka and another enclosure where tuatara lie waiting for sunlight.
At weekends there is a boat which runs and also relies on donations.
You are guaranteed to see and hear the vast array of wildlife at Zealandia and we would recommend visiting to learn more about why New Zealand’s wildlife needs protecting.Written 14 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A fun drive up and down on the tour bus, and a lovely view from the top. Worth the time spent.Written 24 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Van & my two ladiesWellington, New Zealand72 contributionsA fantastic gardens. Loads of thought for children has gone into the design. The fairy path is very enchanting for children. & the summer magic trail for kids was far better than we expected with really helpful volunteers showing us how the puppet mechanisms worked. The toilets are always clean. Kākā can be found enjoying the exotic trees and playing in the one of the few original remnants of forest in the city.Written 20 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Van & my two ladiesWellington, New Zealand72 contributionsThe only thing I can add to the outstanding review below is hiring a croc bike is a great fun way to explore the bay. Kids love it. - Jesse D1 contributionI visited Wellington and went to Fragrifert to choose some perfume in person.
I said to the salesperson that I liked Chanel No.5 and he directed me to "Viva Feijoa". This is a gorgeous scent, he totally knows his stuff. Absolutely love it, I will be buying more.Written 5 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The turbo boost on the bikes was an added bonus when battling the winds and made it so much fun - paths are wide and allowed me to take in the views along the way - I want return and rent a second time before I leave the island next weekend!Written 25 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ben H1 contributionOn behalf of Sporting Tours in Auckland, I wanted to pass our gratitude onto everyone from Xplor Tours who organized our group transfer from downtown Wellington out to Trentham Racecourse for the Wellington Cup over the weekend. It was great to have our driver Merv (who coincidently is known to Sporting Tours as one of our past tour participants) to transfer the group out to the racecourse (and even choose to take the alternative route to get there, cutting the apparent wait time in traffic in half - Thanks for doing that Merv). It was all very easily organized when there was also a delay in the days racing and we had to coordinate a later departure time, Merv was more than happy to accommodate. Thank you to everyone involved, from the initial contact in booking with Richard, to the operational details coordinating with Nicky - it was all done extremely professional and easy to deal with. We will definitely continue to use Xplor tours for any of our tours like this in the future.
Kind regards,
Ben, Kel, Des, Chris & the Sporting Tours team.Written 19 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Erin W2 contributionsThis is the best food tour I have ever been on. Jon was knowledgeable, friendly, and seemed to have meaningful and lovely connections with the different chefs/restauranteurs we met. With diverse stops and immense portions, we learned a lot and walked away stuffed and happy. So grateful for this experience! (Was a wedding gift and we’ll be keeping it mind to gift to others in the future.)Written 26 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
