Those two exhibits alone can take almost 2 hours to complete, so plan to stay for 4 hours to get the full cultural environment. It was an easy walk for the whole family with lots of interesting things to keep the kids entertained. We saw giant Tuataras, Kaka, Tuis, and lots of other birds. The path is a bit confusing when you start but after you figure it out, super easy.

These are huge boats and you can even bring your own car. It’s about a three hour trip between Wellington and Picton. I tend to get a bit seasick, but not if I’m able to stand outside and enjoy the gorgeous views. I’ve seen plenty of seabirds, including an albatross, and dolphins following along side. I was in NZ in 2023 but didn’t take the Interislander this trip. They went over and above for my boy who is tasmanian devil mad. He got shy and didn't ask all of his questions but loved hearing the ranger chat away to me all things devil. He loved seeing the keeper doing some training and the Keeper was amazing at explaining what he wa
s doing and why. The ranger talks with all of the animals was amazing. We learnt something at each talk about these beautiful animals who were clearly all very much loved and well cared for in lovely enclosures developed and tailored to their needs. A beautiful zoo and despite the wet weather, a fantastic day! A very interesting mix that was very interesting and good for kids from about 10 upwards.
