Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our guide Martin was great and we had a thoroughly enjoyable day! Martin provided great insights into the local culture and sights we saw on the way, he also took us to a couple of extra spots not on our planned itinerary. Would recommend to anyone visiting!

We organized Wendy to collect us from Tauranga port on a customized tour for 8 of us. Wendy was very good at communicating with us prior to the trip to help lock in the best itinerary. Wendy also rebooked a number of tickets for various sites to save some time when we got there.

We ended up going to Te Puia, gondola and Luge experience and stopped by a kiwi farm along the way. Ended up at a beautiful beach nearby our ship.

Wendy was fab and highly recommended.

This was a lovely day out and about experiencing some of the sites of Tauranga and Rotorua. We had a small group which was excellent as we were able to get to know Paul and utilise some of his experience in the area and in wines. He was super friendly and accomodating and we felt very welcome. Would definitely recommend it as a nice way to go and see the sites supporting an awesome local operator. My one piece of feedback was to potentially look at getting the van regassed for the aircon or replaced as it was a little hot in the back and maybe wasn't ideal on a hot day to be sweating quite a bit, but I had already flagged this with Paul at the time.

This is the perfect tour to experience so many amazing and unique aspects of NZ - the mudpools, the sulpher ponds, geysers, a Maori cultural performances, Maori artwork, a kiwi sanctuary, kangaroos. All in one tour. Our guide promised to get us back to the cruiseline on time and we did not have to worry. Our guide really took care of us. I highly recommend this tour. It was one of the best tours we took in NZ.

Great tour with Toby and Steve covering LOTS of ground-a full day tour. We especially enjoyed the Kiwi plantation and meeting the owner was such an interesting experience with lots of personal information. The Maori performance & geothermal area was interesting as well. We felt like we were able to experience many of the area's landscapes that varied a great deal. Good overview tour!

Recommend highly! We felt so lucky to have chosen this tour. A wonderful introduction to Maori history and traditions. Les was informative and knowledgeable. We booked this as we got off the cruise ship and weren't sure what to expect... It was far better than we even could have hoped. We visited historic battle sites, and had a great new zealand pie, which was delicious. The trip to Rotorua gave us an experience of the countryside and the geothermal area was fascinating. The Maori show made so much more sense after hearing the oral traditions of the Maori from Les. He is a great storyteller. We came back a different way and we were able to see more of the area. The total trip lasted longer than six hoursand was a blast. Can't recommend highly enough! As a note, the cruise ship docks in a highly industrial area. There are a few fun things to do nearby (walk up or around Mt. Maunagui and the houses and beaches nearby), but getting out of the port area is advised if you want much of a taste of the local culture.

I grew up reading the books and watching the movies so going to Hobbitton was my childhood dream come true! From the time our tour guide, Russell Christian, picked us up in Tauranga, I was immediately transported to another world. Russell gave us the extended cut tour and showed us different places that are present in the filming, as well as behind the scenes information about the films and the location.

The tour itself was incredible and I felt like I had entered as one of the hobbits in the movies. Going inside a hobbit hole and having the whole experience will forever be something I cherish and remember sweetly. 10 out 10 would recommend going to Hobbitton needs to be a bucket list item when visiting NZ! Even if you are not a fan, it’s such a fun experience!

From pickup to drop off, this was the best day ever and a forever memory!

Our group of four adults spent the day touring a variety of places, including Maungauni Beach, a kiwifruit farm, Rotorua, a Maori meeting house, several beautiful lakes, Government Gardens, a redwood forest and more. Our guide, Kerry, was very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this tour group when your ship docks in Tauranga.
