You don’t just look at the waterfall - you can walk right cross the whole waterfall area hopping from boulder to boulder which enhances the experience. There are beautiful circular holes worn in the rocks over time making little mini pools - and there are larger pools which I would loved to have swum in. The main track however was very short - we had driven down from Auckland specifically to see the falls so hopefully more tracks coming. We did do the 'steps' down to a lower view point - I agree with another reviewer, this is not really worth the effort as you can't see the falls at the end. I wished the council had given us just a few more metres of boardwalk so we could actually view the falls at a lower level.
