Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- cafenzTauranga, New Zealand14 contributionsI'm not gunna lie. It's a really hard walk. But it's all worth it once you get to the top. Best place to catch te sunrise or sunset.Written 22 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Caleb5268New Zealand41 contributionsWe paid $160 for all 4 of us and that got us kyaking, standup paddle boarding, rope swing into river, water slide that shoots you into river, giant inflatables in the river, leap from a high platform into the river, obstacle course on land and other things we never got a chance to do e.g. rock climbing, inflatable jump.
In this day and age all that for $40 per person is crazy good value!
Staff were excellent, super friendly and helpful.
Parking onsite seemed a bit limited (but i may have missed an area) so get in early!Written 9 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Interesting to see how many people were braving the water without wet suits. Nice beach to walk on/along.Written 24 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Michelle SAuckland Central, New Zealand446 contributionsNo matter how fit you are.. this is a winner walk around the base if Mount Maunganui.
Allyou needs comfortable shoes.
Start off on the left hands ide overlooking the Bayside. You will have a choice to walk the main track or walk down to the beach below before coming back up.
Beautiful scenery with massive trees providing shade on sunny days.
Seating ares on the way around to take a break.
On the oceanside, you will have the rockpools. Depending on the tide, take a wander and explore this area for shells and climb the rocks.
The last part, you will see the waves crashing onto the main beach. Beautiful way to spend 30 mins of your day.
Have fun.Written 8 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - AngelHellDunedin, New Zealand145 contributionsThis walk, waterfalls and lagoons are breathtaking. The only caveats are that there are a lot of stairs (the equivalent of 26 flights up and down according to my smart watch), and parts of the walk across the rocks are quite precarious. I’d be wary of taking small kids both for topping and carrying reasons!
Still 10/10 for a lovely experienceWritten 22 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Kori AMount Maunganui, New Zealand47 contributionsStunning on a sunny day! Watch the rowers, families swimming and teenagers jumping off the pier. Stroll on the sidewalk, or watch the passengers coming and going from the cruise ships. Glorious views, and very calm and peaceful.Written 7 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- CarosTauranga, New Zealand5 contributionsLoved it. Fun. Will be back with family next week. Shame about the mess down the end of water zone tho.Written 1 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Raewyn TTauranga, New Zealand13 contributionsIt's a bit of a drive but a lovely area. You need to be prepared to do some walking and don't underestimate the walk to the lower platform - you need to be reasonably fit. The steps are great and there are lots of very smooth handrails. They have made a really good job of the tracks. The bottom platform is very small and I think maybe the other one has a better view.Written 26 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Explorer24596278101Christchurch, New Zealand7 contributionsThis is a hilly experience and a lot of steps and paths but well worth the effort and for that amazing view over the bay and Tauranga itself!!!Written 15 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
