Kraig’s knowledge of geography and his engaging personality made this a unique experience of a lifetime. Not to miss...Blue Springs, the dam, geothermal wonderland, and Hobbiton.

My daughter and I had an amazing time today with Sharma! He took great care of us and was extremely knowledgeable in taking us to the best spots and even taking photos for us! Highly recommend for some breathtaking and awesome views in NZ!

    This tour was just fabulous.
Overall, it was a good group of people. We all had the same sense of doing it for the group, and all did what was expected. No-one was ever late, for example.
Our tour guide, Andre, was a super young man. Gentle and humble, very organised, attentive, knowledgeable, a good driver, humorous... I think we all loved him!
We were sooooo lucky with the weather. It was mostly glorious. It would have been a good trip anyway I'm sure, but Central Otago and the Coast in autumn, with the sun shining ... hard to top that anywhere.
The length of the trip was good. 9 days - you felt as if it was a real holiday. Just right, really.
Asked about our favourite things, I find it hard to answer. I always like the thing we are doing at that particular time. I did love the little plane trip, and Okarito was almost spiritual. And seeing Aoraki Mt Cook from both sides of the alps - utterly magnificent. Oh, and the history of Denniston... Really, I enjoyed every experience. Oh, and being picked up and dropped off literally at my front door, was wonderful. It's often those little things that make a difference. And the van driver at the Auckland end was excellent too.
All up, it was a great tour, with a great guide.

Had a great time doing the Essentials + Far South pass with Mozzie as my driver for most of it, he made sure everyone had a good time. We went on a kiwi hunt, drank beers, had Mozzie burgers (three times), went on a bar crawl (two times) and lots more. I definitely recommend the hop on/hop off pass.

The only thing that can be improved is the app, as it is quite slow and is frustrating to use on android as you have to scroll a long way when you're getting towards the end of your trip. However once you understand how the app works, it is really convenient for booking accommodation and activities all in one place. It means you don't need to hand over cash to hostels and for activities, it is paid in advance.

    Thanks Mozzie and Stray!

    Kia Ora,

My time on the Kiwi Experience has been unbelievably amazing, with today being our penultimate day as we make our way back up to Auckland, we begin to reflect back on our time with the company and it’s drivers.

One driver stands out amongst them all, we originally met Jason during the last part of his training in the South Island to later be met by him on his first run as a driver in Taupo. On both occasions he exceeded our expectations in what we expected from someone in his position.

Furthermore, considering it was his first week as a solo driver, Jason composed himself as a member of the Kiwi Experience that had been with the business for 10 years or more, with his knowledge of the locations we arrived at and passed along the way also. Moreover, his people skills with not only all 3 of us, but other members of the tour, were unparalleled to any other driver during our month with the tour. Consistent checking in with individuals and us, along with making sure activities and accommodation were taken care of in a timely and effective manor also. Jason’s character and humor shine through not only during his working hours but when spending time with the group outside of the bus, which is very refreshing.

Jason has really made our time with the Kiwi Experience one to remember, and we are certain he will continue to influence other Kiwi Experience passengers in a positive and fun manor and is a permanent asset to the business and its passengers.

We all wish him the best in his career with the business which we are sure will be long and prosperous.

My husband and I did 2 Cheeky Kiwi Travel tours in February 2019 and we enjoyed both trips immensely. Hats off to the best tour guide, Kreig Leitchze, who made our trips so memorable with snacks, picnic lunch at the Cathedral Cove, a bottle of New Zealand red wine, cheese, etc. He was so pleasant, knowledgeable and accommodating that we hit it off right from the start! A trekker like my husband, they exchanged stories about their nature walks and are now planning to do some treks together in the future. We booked a small group 2-day North Island Favorites Tour and we were very much surprised to learn that we were the only ones! Felt like a private and personal tour! We were with 2 other young kids (brother & sister team) in the other tour, Coromandel Wanderer Tour, and it was equally wonderful! Highly recommend both tours! Expect to be wowed while keeping your mouth closed and savor the beauty of God’s creation all over New Zealand! Ask for Kreig as your tour guide! You won’t regret it!!!

I’ve never so in love with a country right away then I have with New Zealand and this is in big part thanks to Kiwi Ex. The stops they take you too are all spectacular and you meet the nicest most fun people from all around the world to travel with. My only negative of the trip is Happy Travels at the Nomads hostel in Auckland. They are professional scam artists who prey on first time travellers using fear tactics to book activities and get their commission. Only book your excurcions on the bus with the Kiwi driver. I had several drivers who were all amazing especially Dan and Dylan! My must do add on of the trip was to spend a night in mount cook as it was insanely beautiful there and my favourite activity was the tamaki Maori village overnight stay where I truly felt super close and bonded with my new friends from the bus. This trip is great for anyone from 18-30, especially solo travellers and nature lovers. I’ll never forget my time with Kiwi ex and the friends I’ve made. Best. Trip. Ever.

Super lovely group of people. Our tour guide was excellent. I really enjoyed the cultural aspects of the tour (for example doing the Haka Dance, carving Jade stone) it was genuine, authentic and less touristy. I loved that accomodation & transport was all taken care of as it meant for a stress free experience. Perfect to end of with the Paddle a Waka. Awesome stuff. Highly recommended for all ages.

If you want less touristy, more culture, nice people and a range of awesome activities to choose from, go for this! If you can, stick around and get a campervan for a while too.

    Enjoy!

Myself and my friend (both 23 years old) travelled New Zealand via the Kiwi Experience at the beginning of 2020. We travelled from Auckland to Christchurch over 23 days, which we believed to be the perfect length of time. The Kiwi Experience is the best way to get around New Zealand if you're up for making loads of friends, getting drunk, playing games & doing activities you would never usually do. The Kiwi Experience gives you the opportunity to get involved in numerous activities throughout the North Island and the South Island - such as caving, bungee jumping, white water rafting etc. Note, you're able to opt in or out of these activities as you please each day, when you're on the bus, the activity clip board comes round and you can sign up if you want! We didn't do them all as they we're very expensive, so make sure to budget and decide what you want to do before you go - and don't give in to peer pressure when the clip board comes round. This is the same for the accommodation, when you're on the bus each day the accommodation clip board comes around and you can sign your name up if you haven't already booked somewhere. The highlight of this trip for us was the overnight stay in the traditional Mauri Village - so if you're doing the kiwi exp, make sure to do this - quite expensive but worth every penny! Overall, this is a great way, easy, laid back way to travel New Zealand if you're young, active and looking for a good time!
