We signed up for this as a mum and two kids, ages 7 and 9. This was so much fun, and so interesting! The boys loved learning the history of Government Gardens. The clues required a range of different skills, from tactile to thinking to decoding. It was a great way to get around!!
We required a few clues, which helped us get to the next stop and persevere with the game. The app was really easy to use as well.
If you have little ones like I do, it would be a good idea to either bring a picnic and have something to eat half way through, or have a break for lunch. The family with young teens who started the same time as we did needed a break for lunch as well.
We weren’t in a hurry as little legs can only go so fast, so we went over the estimated time. The great thing about this game is you can stop and start as you like, as long as you start and finish on the same day.
Wear comfortable shoes! It’s not a hard walk, but it covers a few km of distance.
Last tip: open the app and start the clues after you collect the box at I-site! Don’t make the mistake we did and drive to Government Gardens before opening the app :)
All in all, it was a really fun, challenging day - exercise, family time, history and fun all rolled into one. I wish they had more versions of this in Rotorua as we visit frequently!
