Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Moira S11 contributionsMiri was our lead guide and Buster was co-worker.
Miri took us through this magical and sacred landscape sharing stories she heard as a child and how as kids they played under the shower of the geyser spray. The spray is slightly chilly by the time it comes back to earth. But the rocks are perfectly warm and the springs just perfect for kids in the villiage to play in.
The landscape was truely messmerising and the company was perfect. Thank you Miri and Buster xxxWritten 21 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Watching the geysers erupt and hearing about how the land is used by the local people was both educational and inspiring. Kerosene Creek was a hidden gem—the warm water was so soothing after walking around all day. A truly enriching and relaxing day!Written 25 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- TheLeongOhanaUnited States7,575 contributionsWe visited the Government Gardens and were impressed with the beauty of the grounds as well as the buildings. None of the buildings themselves were open as most were undergoing renovations. However, the Rotorua Museum was the favorite background for us and the busload of tourists visiting at the same time. Too bad we could not go inside.
Other popular spots to walk by was the former Blue Baths, Prince's Arches, Tea House and Croquet Pavilion. The Te Arawa Soldiers Memorial was a unique meld of Maori and British themes and decorations. Gardens and ponds were not in bloom but still pretty to enjoy. Even here we got to see another thermal pool next to the Blue Baths.Written 2 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We liked it because it is 'real' and not at all touristy; I am not arguing that Whakarewarewa say is not real, but the masses of tourists at the latter location make for a very different visitor experience. Two very impressive buildings at Ohinemutu: the meeting house and St Faiths Church, though were only allowed a glimpse inside the latter. Also notable are the many above-ground tombs of Maori Wars veterans by the edge of the lake. When we visited, in the courtyard in front of the meeting house a group of wahines were practising a dance with pois for an upcoming festival. Now that real! There is also lots of geothermal activity here.Written 25 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TheOatmealGirlSan Diego, CA113 contributionsWow...My visit to Wai Ariki Hot Springs & Spa was truly an unparalleled experience of perfection. The opportunity to immerse myself in the rich Maori traditions and the cultural inspirations behind the spa added such depth to the journey. Every moment spent in the facilities felt intentionally crafted to evoke peace, healing, and rejuvenation.
The spa itself is a masterpiece—its thoughtful integration of color, scent, and sound creates a harmonious atmosphere, while the stunning lake views add a natural touch of serenity. Every detail was impeccable, from the spotless environment to the ease of parking. The cafe was a delightful highlight—both the pumpkin soup and the orange-almond cake were exquisite.
Thank you for curating such a divine and memorable experience. I truly treasured my time here and will absolutely visit again next time I'm in New Zealand :)Written 25 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
