Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We really enjoyed this tour of the village. Our guide was fantastic - friendly, fun and informative. We did wonder if it was going to be too much about things we already knew as being kiwis in the group was the minority. However there was enough new information and things to see to make it interesting. It was great to see the geysers and a highlight was the delicious corn that was so tasty that it didn't need salt. My husband is a wheelchair user so I pushed him around. The surface was uneven and bumpy in places with a few inclines. It was fine as there were lots of stops for information to be shared. Our group was quite small about 12 people so it was easy to see and hear.

Well worth the long day. The van picked us up at the hotel at 6:00 AM and returned us after 6:00 PM. Our tour guide Hanoz was friendly and very engaging. He was explaining much of what we saw along the way. When we arrived at Waitomo Caves we were handed off to another tour guide that took us through the caves. It was spectacular. Inside the caves, no photos are allowed to protect the glow worms. Then we are off to Te Puia to see the geysers and hot springs. I am glad we went.

The guided tour was great, tour groups aren’t too large. The guide is relaxed and friendly. The experience of eating food cooked in the pool is fantastic.

The only note to make the experience better would be for the self guided trails. There is minimal information provided about the history of the pools and Navigation is a little challenging.

Besides that, the tour is definitely worth your time.

Our family took the Original tour a few years ago. Now we came back for the Ultimate tour. It's ziplining on a much bigger and longer scale than we had done before. Vincent and Chris our guides were an excellent duo - very funny, well informed about the forest and of course safety conscious. They were particularly good at engaging with our son during the 3 and a half hours.

The trip was expensive but absolutely worth the money. An outstanding way to spend half a day in Rotorua. Strongly recommended.

Very scenic self guided walk. Easy tracks and information signs to guide you. Nicely organised bus to take you back to the start. Lots of birds to look at on your way!

Brendan was a knowledgeable and fun driver and guide. He knew a lot about everything and was super personable. Stopped at appropriate times for food and bathroom breaks. Smooth and safe driver. The tour at the Māori center was fantastic. Really enjoyed the geothermal park, which was self-guided. A long day but a great day; very worthwhile.

It is an interesting and well laid out place so that you're able to see as much as is practicable and safe.
The entry price is very reasonable.

Wasn’t really sure what to expect but our expectations were really exceeded. Stephen’s enthusiasm and his knowledge of the environment was amazing. Even if we had not seen a single glow warm on our night safari the rest of the experience would have still made it worthwhile. But seeing the amazing sights that we got to see really made this one of our treasured moments and I would highly recommend doing this tour.

We only found out about the Buried Village through a local recommendation……and we have been passing on the word since our visit! The village was buried by volcanic eruptions in the late 19th century. While there has not been a huge amount excavated, it is worth seeing and the walk is worthwhile, don’t miss the waterfall. However the small museum, and the helpful and knowledgeable staff, do a great job of explaining the story. Thank you.

Brilliant trip. The guides were safety conscious, but enthusiastic & informative about their mountain. It's owned by the Maori & they definitely look after it. The views are amazing. The trip is not arduous, but loose volcanic rock means the ground is unstable. After a walk around the rim. You descend into the crater down a steep scree slope. The walk out is easier. This is a highlight of our holiday.

Move from tree to tree across bridges and zip lines 80 feet above the forest floor. Platforms, bridges, and zip lines are all non-invasively attached to the trees by slings. (These trees are California coastal redwoods, but this activity isn’t available at home in California!) Guides Tori and Zach were outstanding—safety conscious, informative, and fun.
