Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a good, but not great, experience. One challenge was that they did not provide the schedule in advance, so we always felt like we were catching up to the plan. However, (almost) all of the experiences were great! The food was really amazing, the performances were beautiful, and there were glow worms! The one experience that wasn’t great was the Q&A, which felt like it dragged on and felt a little questionable.

An absolutely brilliant day out. Our guide was very knowledgeable. The tour was for 15 people, just the right amount, and the bus was on time. An early start, but well worth it. Gail

This was an amazing experience. It was super fun and I had a blast doing the river rafting and zip lining. The staff were helpful and great too! I highly recommend doing this when you find yourself in Rotorua.

I had a fantastic experience with Cheeky Kiwi Travel. Cheekiest Michael, our guide, was incredibly informative and helpful, especially attentive to the couple traveling with children. The entire tour was well-paced, allowing us plenty of time to explore without feeling rushed. It was a truly relaxing and enjoyable experience. I highly recommend Cheeky Kiwi Travel for anyone looking for a well-organized and stress-free tour!”

We had an excellent time at Hells gate. Travelling with my 4 grandchildren from 9 to 19 years. Learned lots about volcanoes.

This was an absolutely amazing day trip and a great way to see more secluded thermal lakes. The walk down from the top of the valley was stunning with so many plants and manuka bushes around you. Following the thermal river all the way to the lake provided some really interesting views and finished with a trip on the boat around the lake. Our guide was so knowledgeable with a was real pleasure to be shown around by him. Definitely recommend.

Pick up and return to the ship very timely. Our guide-driver was friendly and knowledgeable. Far cheaper than the ship excursion and far more personalised. Recommended.

    Easy collection at the port
Friendly driver who gave interesting commentary for all parts of the tour.
Tailored sights on return journey to fit in with timings
Māori village tour was so informative. I was worried I’d feel I was intruding into villagers privacy but this was not the case.
Explanation of the hot springs and how they have been used over the ages was absorbing.
The show was both entertaining and informative. It was pleasant to see all age ranges taking part, especially the young lad with the most beautiful voice.
As we were only two UK nationals among the US nationals on the tour it was enlightening to hear their views on the explanation of NZ lifestyle.
I would have loved to have less time driving around the lakes and then be able to take the elevated tree walk in the redwood forest.

This tour was an absolutely wonderful experience! I appreciated the slower pace of getting to explore different areas of Rotorua (geothermal spots, stunning lake overlooks, redwood forest) in the morning. The buffet lunch was really lovely with nice food that I don't think you could get except in the nicest restaurants. The afternoon activities were by far my favorite, with the Māori cultural show and the grounds tour. The cultural show included beautiful singing and dancing with brief explanations of the meanings of the various elements, which made it so memorable. And the grounds tour was also great. We saw hot mud springs, exploding geysers and Kiwi birds. One of my favorite elements was seeing the school and watching the students and tutors carve wood/stone and weave baskets. The cultural elements made for an experience that you literally could not get anywhere but in New Zealand. And I must end by sharing how incredible our tour guide Pete was! He was very lovely to talk to and answered all of our questions, definitely not relying on a script. It was so meaningful to have a guide of Māori descent to give us further insight into this beautiful country. He even told us a beautiful Māori legend on the drive home, and I truly feel so lucky and privileged that he shared it with us. This tour was one I will not forget, and I would highly recommend it!

Kayaking at night, under the stars (and the Southern Cross!), going through caves and learning about glow worms. Simply awesome, once in a lifetime experience. The guides are fabulous and we were served hot cocoa while hearing about the area and ecological system. Highly recommend. One thing I would change- a few photos taken just before we headed out and possibly as we headed out on our kayaks for keepsakes. Thanks all!!
