Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- johnnyroadmapNantwich, UK210 contributionsWhat a lovely way to spend part of my Sunday strolling along and taking in the scenery. What a nice place to live with so many activities spread along the beach for both children and adults. Spend an hour here and it just unwinds your soul.Written 6 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Wander357829427904 contributionsThe best wine tasting experience at any winery in New Zealand . The Host Sharon is apure delight , witty and knows her wine.
we also had a fabulous lunch. The wines are also incredibly good value compared to some more pretentious wineries in the area . A family business we highly recommend a visit. Simply wonderfulWritten 17 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Cocktail fav: Lone star
Dinner fav: Thirsty Whale
We enjoyed: Bluffs lookout, MGT, Sunken Gardens
Recommendation: Go to MGT and invest time looking at the earthquake information and then learn about the buildings and town.
Tip: Go on a Thurs-Sun when most of the cellar doors are open.Written 29 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was so relaxing to see the falls.
Don’t go there if weather not permits.Written 22 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Plan your day very well and come in the morning to give yourself enough time to explore. There is cafes at the sights for you to eat. The difference exhibited sections are amazing. Such an interesting and insightful place to visit with your family.Written 13 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NA- AustraliaDandenong, Australia912 contributionsPeter was a great ambassador for the area- and asking a few questions of us was able to provide great guidance and advice for our two day stay in this area- have done information centres around the world- and it’s great to have them giving information and guidance first and then selling tours/ experiences. thank youWritten 26 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kevin PWaihi Beach, New Zealand479 contributionsWell I thought this was going to be another boring bike trail. Boy was I wrong! Starting from the Napier CBD we cycled 31km along the 4m wide bike trail along the foreshore, through the dunes, then the wetlands past Clive, then inland though the orchards to finish at Havelock North.
Throughout every 2-3km there are explanation boards about the discovery and settlement of the area. And the development of the horticultural industries.
At the 8km mark the Waitangi Park on the foreshore presents an excellent demonstration of astro navigation for transiting the Pacific Ocean as used by the early Polynesian explorers.
If you time this ride right, you can use the Havelock-Napier bus to either start or finish your journey back to the start, about a 40min bus trip. And they all have bike carriers on them. Although it will cost you at $2pp ;).Written 25 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JamesAuckland, New Zealand7 contributionsVery friendly and helpful staff, was greeted at the door and had everything explained. Exhibits are bit a bit all over the place physically, so there isn't really any flow from one to the other. Earthquake exhibit was good but needed more story telling as again everything was just in the room. I felt like there should have been progression through the exhibit from the quake itself, the response, then the lasting effects. Instead it was just in a big room.Written 1 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Dona SPorirua, New Zealand852 contributionsIt was low tide when we did the walk, and I would like to go back at high tide. We liked it better than the botanical garden in Wellington. The personal histories of some of the people buried in the cemetery gave wonderful insight into early Napier history.Written 17 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - wombatdavidHobart, Australia2,683 contributionsAs you are walking through Napier, it is worth seeing the statue and reading her story. Nearby you can go out onto the water on a platform and see the waves and the black sand beach safely.Written 3 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
