Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- EdR_12Frimley, United Kingdom2 contributionsI've had a fantastic day. A small island turned into bird sanctuary heaven. Our guide was amazing. Worth payjng the small sum of $10nz for a guided tour.
The guides know where the opportunity to see wildlife is the greatest, they can tell you a lot about the island and how it was turned into a sanctuary for rare species.
Loved it. Great day trip.
Suggest you book in advance.
Make sure you bring water/drinks and lunch. You get free tea/coffee at the lighthouse and there's a lovely souvenir shop which they rely on as all goes back into the care of the island.Written 3 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tasi A7 contributionsHad this on my bucket list and it did not disappoint. Would highly recommend to anyone with kids or not to visit this if you have the opportunity. Good walking shoes, water and layer clothing would be a good idea. Loved it!Written 24 April 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mike G5 contributionsLovely countryside drive with a visit to Hamiltons Gap, the only other than Kariotahi that allows access to the West Coast beaches on the Awhitu peninsula . This is well worth the stop as the wind has sculptured the sandstone cliffs into intricate shapes. We were advised by the Information Centre in Waiuku that access to the Lighthouse is not possible at present due to a washout of the road and this may take some time to be repaired. Advice, check with the Info centre at Waiuku before making the trip , there is plenty of other attractions to visit in this area.Written 13 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Pickytraveller1964Canberra, Australia192 contributionsThis is a charming town with a highly unusual claim to fame; designer public toilets by the Austrian artist Hundertwasser. Also delicious ice cream.Written 11 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Seaside051949546301 contributionHad a great time, plenty to do. Fun around every corner. Struggled with the price of parking. Especially an extra $30 a day at our motel which is standard. Our motel was awesome and had everything we needed. Apart from the swimming pool being at 25 degrees which was a bit chilly to manage.Written 25 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Scott RAuckland, New Zealand19 contributionsAbout an hours drive out of the city, but worth it to check out the awesome scenery and go for a stroll through the caves. There's some great history worth reading up on about the area.Written 17 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Harry was knowledgeable, kind, interesting, flexible and a pleasure. The tour was fantastic way beyond our expectations.

Josh and Julie took such great care of me with playfulness and love. It starts in Hobbiton and only gets better from there. They have taken us to spots from LOTR that I imagine would be very difficult to find without them. If you really want a LOTR journey, go on this trip. If you want a fellowship of wonderful people and to meet lifelong friends, go. If you want to play and laugh, see amazing scenery and eat amazing food, go. Since I have come back, magical things have happened as well. I have given presentations on my trip, and others have given me feedback a week after each presentation saying they are still profoundly inspired by it. This is an epic adventure of a lifetime. I would go on this trip 5 more times. Thank you to Josh and Julie and to the amazing fellowship and to everyone that made this journey what it is!Written 7 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TravelFoodCoolToronto, Canada143 contributionsWe loved this half day cycling tour of Auckland. The E-bikes were great allowing us to cover a lot of ground and make the ascent to Mt Eden for spectacular views.
Carson was a great guide keeping us all in our correct (left) lane and supplying lots of information about the sites we were seeing.
Highly recommend.Written 6 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Had a tasting and tour of the facilities at Kumeu River and a second tasting at Westbrook. John really added to our experience with his deep knowledge of all things wine-related, but he also had an answer for any question we asked about New Zealand. Vehicle was clean and very comfortable. Prompt pickup from the centrally located Sky City Hotel. This was a great afternoon activity for our first day in New Zealand. Highly recommended.Written 9 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
