Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The views were great and well worth the walk. Be sure to bring your hats and sunscreen as there is very little shade except towards the bottom.

I've had a fantastic day. A small island turned into bird sanctuary heaven. Our guide was amazing. Worth payjng the small sum of $10nz for a guided tour.

The guides know where the opportunity to see wildlife is the greatest, they can tell you a lot about the island and how it was turned into a sanctuary for rare species.

    Loved it. Great day trip.
    Suggest you book in advance.
Make sure you bring water/drinks and lunch. You get free tea/coffee at the lighthouse and there's a lovely souvenir shop which they rely on as all goes back into the care of the island.

Auckland zoo was exceptional. I visited the zoo to see a few animals that I would not typically see in the states. Parking does cost based on the length of time you select from the meter, however, you can also park on the side of the street before turning into the parking lot, which I believe is free.

I was really impressed at how clean and well manicured everything looked throughout the zoo. The greenery/plants stood out to me in comparison to the dryer climate I'm used to.

Great one day trip. We didn’t do a tour! Just went on our own.
We hiked to the summit and the views were beautiful. Great view of Auckland!

Adjoins One Tree Hill, so this is a lovely walk to extend your stay. There are farm animals to see (cows and sheep) which is nice for children and adults alike. There's a little cottage to see inside.

The park is abundant with greenery, providing an excellent route for physical activity. You can immerse yourself in nature and observe some sheep among other things. The playground is decent but could use more diversity. The skateboard track is quite disappointing, seemingly designed for tyres rather than skateboard wheels. However, the park’s vastness could keep you occupied for several hours. A leisurely stroll around the park and up the hill to take in the views could easily take up to 2 hours.

We had an enjoyable time exploring the park and walking around the pond. There were lots of ducks and we also saw some eels. There are nice big trees and paths.

This is a really wonderful park in the centre of Auckland. It is spacious with some lovely gardens and statues. We spent quite some time just wandering around the whole park and enjoying its peaceful. relaxing atmosphere..

What an amazing area. Plenty of ferry trips you can take, but even better if you can go in a private boat. So many hidden gems to be discovered. Go ashore and discover the numerous walks on many islands or just enjoy the scenery from the sea.

We went to the Beach on a rainy Saturday morning on Waitangi weekend. It was not raining when we arrived, but only a few cars were in the parking lot. We walked along the Waitakere River down to the beach and turned toward the large sea cave at the other end of the beach. When we were about two-thirds of the way there, it began to rain. The wind was blowing in from the Tasman Sea, causing the rain to fall sideways. My right side was soaked and my left side was relatively dry. The beauty of it was that we had the beach all to ourselves for at least a half hour, and it never was crowded. The sea cave was amazing for its large size. The daylight penetrates all the way to the back. The sandy floor was damp, but the cave was relatively dry at low tide. We waited inside until the rain sqalls passed. Then we explored the other sea cave, which is not as wide or high but just as deep. I was able to walk upright for all but the last few meters, where I crawled into the darkness until the passage became too small to navigate. Back outside, we explored tide pools full of small crabs and prawns. We were never tempted to swim in the dangerous surf, but we did wade into the shallows as we walked back down the beach. We also waded up a small stream and explored its canyon. By the time we made it back to the river, the wind had picked up and was pelting us with the fine volcanic black sand, but then we left. We spent about three hours at the beach. It was fabulous.

Excellent free attraction in Auckland. Good add on as a visit to the Auckland Museum or as a standalone excursion. Just a nice quiet place for a wander - come rain or shine.

Beautifully restored and maintained 110 year old tropical gardens.

We visited the Rose Garden as it is close to the city , where we stayed. There were many roses in bloom, and it was lovely walking amongst them inhaling their beautiful fragrance. We got a bit lost when we left.

Spent about 2 hours here on a fairly overcast day. There’s plenty to keep young minds interested, we watched an enrichment feed session with the 4 otters. The Croc enclosures seem rather tiny and the actual croc looked rather plastic, even tho we saw one of them move it’s head and open it’s mouth there was still a feeling of not quite real for some reason. We did have an enjoyable time tho and stayed for lunch in your cafe.
