Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One Tree Hill in Auckland offers stunning city views, lush parkland, and rich Maori history. A peaceful spot for walks, picnics, and cultural exploration.

Came by to admire the superior residential area. One reason it is sought after is the great view from the boardwalk viewpoint. But this is worth a detour though not quite a special journey

My lovely wife and a friend of ours went to Totara Park for a picnic on the weekend. There are plenty of picnic tables next to the carpark in Wairere Avenue. The trails around the park and the adjacent Botanic Gardens are well maintained, and even after rain, are pretty dry. Some of the trails wind around the lovely creek and give the place an almost tropical rainforest feel. The paths higher up are over the fields and have views which are simply stunning. Well worth enjoying.

This peninsula extends into the Hauraki gulf with Bucklands Beach
on one side and Eastern Beach on the other. An easy walk through the Howick Golf club is lovely on a sunny windless day. Beautiful views of the gulf islands and to the foreshore across the bay. The historic Radio Station at the point which was built in 1937 and only used until 1966, was very run down. It's a lovely Art Deco building and would make a great function centre or museum. It's presently used by an amateur radio station.
A lovely place to take a picnic (although no bathroom facilities).

This is a great place to take the dog for a walk, or to show visitors the magnificent views out over the Gulf. The council promised to start repairs on the stairway down to the beach in February and have it finished by today. The reality is they have yet to even start! So much for the Auckland Super City...…...

The Pararaha Valley is the midpoint between Karekare and Whatipu. It can be used for shorter loop walks from either end or become the midpoint if you go from one to the other. You go up the hill from either side and descend to the valley.
Although there are boardwalks in some places, the other places were quite wet as it traversed through the wetland. We had to cross the stream to get across and it was about thigh high. There is a campground in the area on the Whatipu side of the stream.
There is also an access point from the track to the beach but the walk might require going through patches of water (it was high tide when we got there). It was fairly difficult trying to find it from the beach as there is no signage.
The walk here was fairly tiring as we had done the beach walk from Whatipu to Karekare and then gone up and down the Zion hill tracks to get here and then up the Muir track to get back to Whatipu.
Really quiet and nice views from the top of the Muir track staircase.
