I hadn't visited this for a number of years, so when I went last weekend, it came as a surprise to me as to how much this market had grown. I guess with the demise of La Cigale, a number of vendors probably would have moved here.

There is a wide selection of vendors, so there should be something for everyone. I stopped by someone selling mushrooms, there were bakers, grocers, Napolitan pizza, to name a few. The range seem to be more than just "Farmers", which is a good thing. I wish I had more time to explore.

Now for the down sides. It was crowded, and whilst there were plenty of parking spaces nearby, it was hard to find a park. Did I mention, it was crowded? Expect to queue for the more popular vendors. Also, a number of vendors only accepted cash or bank transfer. I think it is not unreasonable to expect vendors to accept credit cards or at a minimum EFTPOS.

Catalina Bay Farmers Market, finefood-market at Hobsonville Point; lovely waterfront views. Olive oils, Butchery, Nut-butters, cheese, copper perfumery-kits, and more; great atmosphere. Bakery out-the-door queues, decadent patisserie, got some - finished in a jiffy, got another few delish items before we left. (I have gait/walking challenges (stroke), wear a legbrace.) - challenging flights of steps if you park at top-level carpark or drive-down, gourmet (indoor/outdoor) market though quite small, must try cafes surrounding it for next time, ferry-pier (service to/from Auckland Cbd). Went on the weekend, great find; I believe they are open more days.

We learned that there are different locations for the night markets - some take place in the underground space of a parking structure, others outdoors. What you get is a huge assortment of street food of all types, much of it quite appealing. And, of course, some local artisans and their craft works - go online when you get to Auckland and google "Auckland Night Markets" for current locations and hours.
