Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Emma H9 contributionsWe loved the lagoon! The temperature of the water is perfect and there are lots of shade sails, sandy edges and platforms too if you don’t like the sand.
Lifeguards on duty at all times and open till 9pm.
We spent a few hours here and the cafe was reasonably priced too.
Lockers available, we paid $4 for 4 hours for a small one. You need gold coins only and they don’t take card.Written 10 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was good to dive into a cool, more shadowy place and get to see plenty of fish, eels, snakes and many other creatures too. Some huge tanks with great viewing galleries. Plenty of information and education boards around too. Loved it.Written 19 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - brennyGosford, Australia126 contributionsA great day out. Andrew was fabulous with his knowledge. Lunch was delicious. Included ice cream with a sample of all the fruit flavours. Unfortunately, due to the roadworks, we didn't do the Bloomfield Track part, which was why we chose this particular tour . However, this was out of the company's hands. The only issue we had was that the sound system on the bus was not very clear. Unless the bus was stopped, we could not understand half of what was being said, missing a lot of the information that was being given.Written 4 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bianca S47 contributionsThe boardwalk is beautiful! It is clean and great views. Locals are really kind and welcoming. There are many places to sit and enjoy the ocean and animals, as well as great places for food and beverages.Written 28 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jessica MNew York City, NY402 contributionsWe had a great time at Cairns Botanical Garden, even in the rain! A special shoutout to Catie who helped us navigate with a map and pointed out the best spots to explore.
The freshwater pond was a highlight—it was filled with lily pads, herons, and turkeys. The real stars were the baby frogs—there must have been a million of them! They were tiny and adorable, but do watch your step to avoid harming them.
We loved walking through the Chinese Gardens; the bamboo was stunning. Tank Four provided much-needed seating, though it lacked air conditioning, which might be worth noting on a hot day. Lastly, Gondwanaland was a treat—be sure to read the signs to get the most out of the experience.
Overall, this garden is a gem, rain or shine! Highly recommended.Written 28 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Only comment was the Humvee was the ride of the day which didn't appeal to us. Could do with a cafe but a superb place. Friendly staff too.Written 9 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ben KingLondon, UK329 contributionsVery cool swim spot for a couple hours. The waterfall is easily accessible with lots of parking and only a 700 metre walk. Waterfall is huge and there are lots of rocks for sitting, eating, and sunbathing. You can slide down part of the waterfall! But beware the water is COLD. Come and park up here on a sunny afternoon, it’s gets pretty busy!Written 27 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Maureen M93 contributionsIf you’re not a fan of swimming or no snorkelling you can still do a half day trip to green island and enjoy the beautiful sand beach and glass bottom boat experience… they take you out to an area where they feed the fish and you will see some beautiful fish and coral . More than 1/2 a day I’d recommend renting beach chairs and umbrella.. not a lot of food options so bring snacksWritten 15 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - scvroseFiddletown, CA1,305 contributionsSeastar dropped us off before the island we swam in. Enjoyed watching the hundreds of birds making their nest on this slender piece of land. One of my highlights.Written 18 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- CarloHelmondHelmond, The Netherlands725 contributionsWe stayed in Millaa Millaa and had an early start to the day. Driving the waterfall circuit makes for a nice drive and includes 3 water falls (Millaa Millaa falls, Zillie falls and Ellinjaa falls). All are within easy walking distance and provide you with some great views. Early in the morning you have to place to yourself and it is very serene. There are many activities in the area, but have a look first if they are open. We called on some place that were closed during the winter season or had limited opening hours. The area is well worth your visit, unless you are just here for the highlights.Written 23 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Winter74Australia27 contributions10/10 place for kids! Bring bathers and change of clothes kids loved it. Water was cold but on a sunny day that wouldn’t be a problem and it didn’t stop our kids from getting wet anyway.Written 12 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - vickiebypassStamford, CT322 contributionsThe Cairns Museum was great –one of these small local museums that do a very good job at telling their unique story. The top floor was all about the people who have settled and lived in Cairns from 1907 through now, and they told the stories via photos of a person and a vignette about what they did. Good blend of male/female, whites, aboriginal, Europeans and I thought it gave a good flavor of the town. The next floor was displays around themes like dressing, cooking, safety, home life, work, etc.. more photos and the tools that people used with explanations; the home life part was very interesting to see the rather primitive washing machines from the 1950s, the wooden screened cabinets with the four legs set into metal rings, filled with kerosene to keep the ants out. Very evocative section. The docent in the room was very informative and pleasant.
They have a veranda on the second floor as part of the museum and originally when they told me oh, don’t miss the veranda, I thought “yeah, right – it’s a trillion degrees and you want me to sit outside” but when I saw the door I went outside. Well, I was 100% wrong.! There was a pleasant breeze, ceiling fans, white wicker furniture, and a very nice view over Main Street and the trees. I talked to the same docent later on and she explained that the key in Cairns is to get up high so that you get a breeze; and that’s why a lot of the houses (Queenslanders) are raised and have lots of windows to let the breezes come through. Okay, I was convinced. I would definitely recommend this museum if you want to learn about the history of the town.Written 18 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Does not specify that you’re not supposed to touch the shelved products and he alone is meant to handle them, and yet when I was pointing out to him which I’d like to purchase he just walked off! Clearly he doesn’t want to sell them, so you shouldn’t buy them!Written 12 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - madjtWollongong, Australia34 contributionsWonderful priceless collection of artefacts & artwork etc. you get to see them up close with all their fine detail. Loved the swords, arrows and other fighting and practical implements. There’s also plenty of history related notes to ensure you’re informed about the age and historical background etc.
If you’re a fan of Samurai and Japanese history, then this is a must visit. The knowledgeable owner and host can answer all of your questions.Written 23 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
