Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Brayan DStaten Island, NY29 contributionsThe experience was very memorable. I was a solo traveler and our guide Raquel made sure to include me in a lot of conversations so I wouldn’t be lonely. I got to meet new people and we felt like a family the whole time. The lunch was so delicious and the hike had some of the best views on my trip to Porto. Would definitely recommend.Written 3 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Betty W1 contributionWe went there in the beginning of october and were partly alone here!! So it’s worth it going in autumn when it’s not too busyz. It was beautiful even with a dark sky.Written 6 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- John RHockliffe, UK181 contributionsJust one of those places that feels like Heaven on Earth. Praia do Meco faces perfectly West, which means you can sit anywhere on the beach and watch a stunning sunset unfold right before your eyes.
The coastline here has a wilder feel to it - the day we visited there were big rollers on the ocean with all the sound and spray of crashing waves. The beach itself is vast and stretches out in both directions so you can easily find a spot to yourself if you want, or if you prefer some hustle and bustle there are two beach bars right next to each other by the car park (which provides shaded parking and only costs 1 Euro for the whole day!).Written 17 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You can rent chairs near the hotel. One shade and 2 chairs is $20 Euro for the day.Written 30 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The best part is the climbing from the town. So don’t go by car!Written 22 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rahul LLeeds, UK6 contributionsGreat position on the beach front with amazing views. The fish restaurant inside the fort was delicious. - Marylene SMaputo, Mozambique610 contributionsIf you want to escape the beaches of Sesimbra, the Lagoa de Albufeira is the right option, even more so if you have kids. The place is secure, the water is calm and the visibility is perfect. If you want to practice some sports, it is also ideal. The environment is attractive. But if you have a choice, try to go in low season as the place tend to be packed with families and parking is a serious problem!Written 9 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MJS77yoLondon, UK33 contributionsNice and clean and when we visited, on a Friday, it was near deserted without a handful of other couples dotted widely apart along the beach. The sea was a little too rough to venture in as it was a windy day but the beach was perfect otherwise. We didn't venture far from the steps but we didn't see any shops or vendors on the beach itself. I'd advise you plan ahead and bring snacks and drinks. However there is a nice restaurant at the top of the steps if you need a drink or toilet (takes a while though to use the steps though and I imagine it would be quite a chore if it was busy).Written 16 September 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RLFSesimbra, Portugal15 contributionsThis is my go to place with my kids. It's perfect for kids of all ages, with plenty different areas to keep them busy and hapily entertained. Very well maintained with lush green grass and plenty of shade, it's the perfect place all year round and an amazing alternative to the beach to spend the day on hot summer days. It's got well maintained bathrooms for small kids and adults, and several water fountains throughout the park. Really really thankful for this amazing investment made by the cityWritten 11 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mark ODelray Beach, FL67 contributionsThe sand was easy to walk, and the views of the ocean and hills were lovely. This was a very enjoyable 45 minutes on the beach. The ocean temperature in October are cool. No waves to surf. Just an enjoyable stroll on the beach.Written 30 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Mooma17 contributionsWow what a great find for a picnic spot after visiting Cabo Espichel - lava flow beach with sandy strip for sunbathing - dramatic waves and very strong current don’t recommend going in the sea although a few locals were brave enough to take a quick dip to cool off!! Loadsa rock pools amongst the lava for crab spotting - wear sturdy shoes - easy walk from car park right by beachWritten 21 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
