The feeling of history is awesome and the panoramic view of Loch Leven from the island is gorgeous.
The castle is in ruins but our 5 and 8 year old children loved playing musketeers and princesses whilst we took in the spectacular views ( even on a grey day) and soaked up the history.

I highly recommend parking at Dollar’s glen and walking up the glen as it is an amazing site, just make sure to wear wellies or waterproof hiking boots as it’s a steep hike.

Had a great visit to Elcho Castle yesterday Wonderful castle, mainly under cover (just in case of a shower in Scotland) with lots of nooks and crannies to explore and stunning views from the rooftop walk.
The staff are wonderful throughout all visit Scotland sites but the recommendation to visit this castle was a wonderful detour we are happy we made.

Through to Falkland today at Maspie Den Took the track up to the Tyndall Bruce Monument a steady 2 mile gradient ...Knackered at the top but what a great view , had a look at the barley twist Chimneys on Falkland...
