The views of the Cathedral, river Medway and the surrounding countryside are magnificent and the insight of what it must have been like to live their through the centuries was very instructive.
The view from the top of the tower is magnificent in all directions, with the castle grounds, the River Medway, Rochester Cathedral and plenty of historic buildings all visible (and really close by).

This fort had some cunning defences in the tunnels and up on top where one of the most amazing views of Chatham and Rochester can be seen across the river.Spend a few hours there is well worth it.

After you get out turn left and a little walk there's the castle with a nice view waterfront there's a lot of history to the castle and a lot of good views in and around the castle well worth a visit get the audio...
The castle is small so easy to view but has a fascinating history having been involved in a battle with the Dutch navy in the 17th century when they sailed into the Medway to try to destroy the British fleet.

... were open with very knowledgeable people, The tour is free but you have to be fit enough to do a bit of climbing up stairs and the onto the roof of the building, which has great views across the estuary.
There is great view of the river, you could spend hours sitting on a bench watching the shipping going up and down the river.
