Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Love this place more than the zoo. Nice little atmosphere the kids have so much fun here. And they do season passes which is great

It was raining when we visited but this really didn't take away from the beauty of this park. The paths are really well maintained and it has some lovely swing bridges. It is also great to see a lord of the rings filming location - Rivendell - there is even a life-size elven arch to mark the spot.

Love the tracks around Maidstone. Such beautiful bush. Go regularly to enjoy the peace. Something for everyone at this park with a playground, tennis courts, miniature rail, mountain biking, pum track and skateboard bowl.

Water could have been a bit warmer, but family had fun. The slides were great for the older kids. but also a great pool for the little ones.

Breathtakingly beautiful. We went after a rain so the waterfalls were flowing. It was the perfect hike on the way to other sites.

I have travelled to many Speedway tracks throughout the country, yet Wellington Speedway is one of the best i have been to,excellent viewing, well run meetings and friendly track staff.just one draw back i found was the lack of veritary of food, maybe if they added eg somewhere you could get a steak sandwich,or a good kiwi pie..

Be prepared for a steep climb. On a nice day you will be rewarded with a good view of Upper Hutt and the valley. It's not a memorable walk given that you follow a 4WD gravel road all the way but it's great if you need a good climb as a workout.

Nice walk via a swing bridge which wobbles a lot. The dam is beautiful
And well worth a family trip to walk too

We went there to see the cherry blossoms and have lunch. We went early and were lucky we still found a parking space, my friend had to park along the road. About half of the cherry blossoms were not in bloom yet and the camillas and rhododendrons were not in full bloom yet. We were told by friends that last year, everything was in full bloom, i blame the change in weather patterns. Entry to the garden is an affordable $5 per person. There are some steep climb which older people probably will not be able to go to and I recommend wearing good walking shoes as there are some inclined walks which may caused slips going down, no steps. The cafe is very popular, I recommend booking in advance. Customer service is mostly good, especially the twin boys bringing the food to the tables. I enjoyed my eggs benedict with bacon, which is served on vienna bread instead of the usual sourdough which can be hard when toasted. The sweet and sour pork with rice and seafood basket were good. The tuna with mediterrenean salad was delicious too but still had scales. The panfried terakihi needed more seasoning or flavour and was quite small. The roast pork tasted different and did not have any crackles. We made reservations to come back for dessert and saw the woman write my name on the reservation book. After the garden walk, we returned to the cafe for our dessert and was told we did not have any reservations - that is really weird as I saw it being written. We got a table anyways and enjoyed desserts and drinks. We also went to the garden centre where I was able to buy a couple of wisterias, a blue hydrangea, a mint plant, a garden fork and 2 big bags of topsoil (in reuseable supermarket bags) - all for $64. The guy who sold those to me was very friendly and helped me by rolling the heavy cart to my car. The woman who sold us tickets to the garden is also very nice and friendly. The garden cafe also have 2 wedding venues and also serve high tea.

Amazing wee place to visit. Loved the local art and lack of pretentious viewers. Exhibition from childhood trauma Glass Underfoot was heart wrenching but showed real human understanding which as a therapist I could see. TRIGGER WARNING APPLIES HERE so I will not add the piece from here. Other art of materials and classic paintings with a black and white photography of Upper Hutt was lovely. Staff very pleasant. I also found great pieces to buy and some lush Manuka honey at half the price in the U.K.
I can’t find the cafe to give a sepetage review on Trip Advisor, so doing it here. All cafes attached to museums close at 3.30pm. This one is called Dough. The food and portions are superb. The side salad was better than an expensive restaurant I visited last night. It was delicious. In NZ they love salt so just ask for no added salt. The lunch is now coming home to continue as my dinner! Good value compared to U.K. & also if you are in a couple as one portion would feel a substantial lunch for two, sharing the price.
The best part, they as a bakery make fresh GF bread. So it was delicious 😋
