- Nick2 contributionsHow much more Scottish can you get?! Had a wonderful time with our very knowledgeable tour guide Josh who had great stories and facts about Scotland. He was very open to further questions and help make the experience as great as it was. Our tour only took up a fraction of the bus which made it very personable. Josh commented that it was not usually like that, so we were lucky. Note that the distillery might not be the best place to buy scotch. Do some research between the in town shops, grocery stores, and duty free to know what you can get and for how much. Overall great way to experience a lot of Scotland in a single day. Euan picked us up in a luxury sedan and took us to the Falkirk Wheel, the Kelpies, Stirling Castle and then to Deanston Distillery. He made lunch reservations for us at The Portcullis in Stirling. It was a great day. Everything was managed perfectly. The Deanston tasting was the highlight. I was in contact with Chris in advance to describe some physical limitations my mom had, and Chris carefully planned a perfect day for us outside of Edinburgh. His knowledge and humor, paired with his conscientious concern for my mom’s abilities, made for one of the top memories of our entire trip. Castles, villages, a trip to a loch, Highland cattle, and a thorough weaving of history and present-day Scotland. Each room you are walked through during the tour offers something new! Complimentary drinks are very interesting and tasty. this is NOT your regular distillery tour. Poppy, our guide, was full of fascinating stories and local tips, and she even took us to a hidden loch that wasn’t on the usual tourist trail—it felt like our own private slice of Scotland. She knew the best spots for photos, and we ended the day with a wee dram at a cozy distillery.
