Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The columns are at least as impressive as more famous locations (such as the Giant’s Causeway) and the sea beside them teams with fish and shellfish. There is now restricted access but the main accommodation places provide tours. A key visit on the island.

Waitangi is where many fishing boats come into the wharf and the Waitangi Bay beach is a lovely deserted stretch of sand which curves around to a headland. This bay is the view from the Hotel as well.

Lois and Val were very welcoming, so friendly and warm. They are a mine if information, and have done a fantastic job on their beautiful gardens.

A must see when you are on the Chatham Islands.

What a beautiful beach. White white sand and assure blue water goes for miles. Ours was the only footprints in the sand. I could go back there and spend the day under a beach umbrella

This statue was just down the road from where we’re staying and we accessed it by walking along the beach. Got some good photos. Watch out for the bad smells of the bird colony on the rocks below

Really nice walk with a range of undergrowth. Even some very wind swept trees which show how much the wind blows here. Weka are all over the island. Rock formations are interesting

This small but highly interesting museum tells many fascinating stories about events and people of The Chatham Islands, with many objects and pictures to illustrate the array of historical stories. Well worth a visit.

This is a fantastic walk from the road side to the Coast, the track is marked but a good level of fitness is required, it takes around 3 hours return trip. Opportunity to see Chatham Island birdlife and endemic plants.
This is a private walk so you need permission first. In season you can also visit the innovative conservation projects run on this property by the Taiko Trust.
Take a snack at rest down at the coast, its beautiful.

This reserve houses a number of trees where the Moriori etched unusual face and figures on the bark of trees. Not all are available to be seen and sadly as the years pass and the trees grow older they will be lost. This Reserve is another reminder of just how different the flora on the Chathams is to that of NZ

a friendly shop with gifts and crafts. It would have been nice to see some more local crafts in the shop.

We paid our $50 entry fee to the family who owned the land and embarked over the paddock via a small worn track. Sheep everywhere and as dumb as they are often ran in front of the car. Got to the end of the road and had to walk final part on a track to the seal colony. Got good photos especially of the babies who seemed to be only days old. Hold your nose if the wind is blowing in the right direction

The lookout is a bit of a climb up from the road but your get an excellent view over the main wharf at Waitangi which is interesting, especially if there is a ship in port.
