Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Lior P12 contributionsAmazing experience in Sordo! Recommend the tour and tasting for everyone!
Sofia was just excellent. She's very kind and her tour was the best winery tour I ever had. She's knowledgeable and explained everything, it was really interesting. The wines are very tasty, and the explanations helped us really understand what we are drinking .
It was a really fun visit. Everyone in the group is still praising it and speak about how fun and interesting it was. Thanks Sofia!Written 28 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The experience was truly amazing. We learned so much from the knowledgeable guide, and the tasting was 10/10!
We have been to many wine tastings, but nothing tops this. Truly worth the money.Written 22 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You can drive yourself, or you can follow a present route that takes you to participating wineries along the way. In the process, you will drive through miles and miles of vines, with medieval castles and baroque churches interspersed between wineries, restaurants and hotels. There are 11 communities that comprise the Barolo region and you will drive through most of them. This is a great way to get to know the area, learn about the passion for wine, and marvel at the many manifestations of Nebbiolo in expert hands.Written 15 October 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - John M4 contributionsWhat an extraordinary experience - the highlight of our visit to Piemonte! We visited other wineries that produce outstanding wines, but the visits had a decidedly commercial tone. This was not the case at Gigi Rosso. Instead, this visit was relaxed and personal. We intend to return on our next trip to Italy.Written 5 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Barolo-AlbaFranklin, TN72 contributionsWe saw the small hilltop village of Castiglione Falletto from the piazza on the larger hilltop village of La Morra. We went there to visit the Vietti Winery. We had an incredible visit at Vietti. The winery, the people and the wine were all fantastic. We also enjoyed a leisurely lunch at Locanda in the small central piazza. Great local food and atmosphere. As we walked around the village we found amazing views of most of the barolo vineyards in the area. Breath taking views of the Italian-French alps and the valleys in between. We will definitely return here on our next visit to Italy and bring our adult children!Written 14 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JohnWennborgLund, Sweden56 contributionsA visit to the Terre del Barolo cooperative is well worth it. The attention from staff is attentive without being pushy and tasting is free. TdB is a large producer owned by around 300 wine growers and produce a wide variety of wines, from simple house blends sold in bulk to the finest signature Barolos. Prices are very good compared to the tourist enotecas. We consider this to be well worth the visit.Written 4 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- dillons780Long Island, NY527 contributionsOur visit to Cavallotto took place just over 1 week ago where we took part in a tour and tasting with Giuseppe Cavallotto himself. Cavallotto was recommended to us by one of the sommeliers from the world famous Michelin starred restaurant “Del Posto”. After the sommelier raved about Cavallotto extensively we knew we had to pay them a visit.
Giuseppe provided us with the most detailed tour and explanation of wines that we have ever had. This is not your typical visit to a winery by any means. Giuseppe has an unbelievable amount of passion for his wines and for what he does and it shows in the the tour and in the finished product (the wine). His knowledge in his field is unparalleled, thanks to Giuseppe we now know more than we ever did about the intricacies behind Barollo wine and what goes into the process. Despite Giuseppes unbelievable amount of knowledge and Cavallotto’s impeccable reputation he remains extremely humble and treated us like family. His company and teachings were truly a pleasure and we cant wait to visit again soon.
Cavallotto’s vines are ideally situated in Barolla with arguable the best terroir a winemaker could ask for. It is no wonder that so many of Cavallotto’s wines have such outstanding reviews from nearly every wine critic and publication.
Have I mentioned the wine itself? There are no words to describe Cavallotto’s wine. Obviously the Barolo is flawless but not just the Barolo, every wine that we tasted could not have been better. Every aspect of the wines are perfect and we believe this is largely because of Giuseppes amazing attention to detail, he is a perfectionist and produces perfect wine.
Giuseppe we thank you again for the amazing experience and for being not only one of our highlights visiting Barolo but for being a highlight of our entire trip to Italy and treating us like family.

The facade is largely red brick with four grey and white marble embedded columns, one at either corner of the church and the other two separating the three portals. Each of the arched portals has two wooden doors with frescoes painted in the tympanums. There are baldachin type structures on the top of each of the marble embedded columns as well as two smaller versions on top of the concrete columns on either side of the main portal. There is a rose window above the main portal.
Inside there is a central nave with a high vaulted ceiling and side aisles, separated from the nave with arched grey and white marble columns that have oval frescoes painted above the arches. The side aisles also have vaulted ceilings and all of the ceilings are painted a dark blue as if resembling the sky.
The main altar is simple but quite lovely and has a large painting depicting the Immaculate Conception with St Andrea and St Francis. There are also some lovely side chapels.
This church appears to be rarely open and we were lucky to be there at the same time as a church official who came to collect something and let us have a quick look inside.Written 16 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Just beneath the walls of a 1000 year old fortress overlooking the wineyards between Falletto and Serralungo.
Very friendly and easygoing local staff. Down to earth people who really make you feel welcomed and relaxed. No fancy stuff - just great food and wine! And they will of course make sure that you pick the right wine for you and the food you’re gonna eat by offering you a wine tasting before ordering the wine.
