Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent staff providing informative advice and written material to support exploration in the area. Fabulous displays of flora and fauna and local history. You can easily spend an hour at this place. The surrounds are also lovely

This is a gentle walk through a lovely forest. I particularly love these particular tree ferns with the dead fronds that drape down and look like a hula skirt around the trunk. The car park is quite large compared to the Thunder Falls and the quite compact Fantail Falls

Worth pulling up to see the beach and the lookout station and the creek. Interesting information boards about the history of this spot.

Take a 5 minute pitstop here to appreciate the views of the coastline (or visit the loo!). Nice high level outlook over the nearby cliffs and rocky islands.

A pleasant 30 minute round trip that allows the cascade of water sounds to be echoed by bird song, accompanied by the whistle of winds above the first canopy, and climaxing with the timpani of waves against rock at the small pebbly beach. A well-formed and -maintained gravel path, supplemented by board walk and short footbridges, allows for an easy walk, despite the slight gradient in places. Worth the drive in itself.

Easy to pull up by the bridge and take a few photographs of this gorge, waterfall and bridge. Lovely colour water and impressive size rocks!

A 40-minute return track that allows a reverse perspective on your walk in. Well formed path, with just two boggy areas (easily skirted). A series of sturdy foot bridges. Track ends rather abruptly with a picnic table and lookout point. No formed track around the lake. Back at the carpark, take the time to walk down to the confluence of the Ellery Creek and Jackson River.

My wife and I were on a tour and stopped here for a break. The beach was lovely and the weather was excellent for being outdoors.

Great experience. After seeing the rivers and creaks only from the driving. It is awesome to follow the river upstream. The boat is comfortable and you get warm gear (I would recommend to wear warm clothing). It did rain a bit, but no problem. The boat has a "glass"-roof. You stay dry. Wyne gave a lot of information and it was interesting talking to him. Really worth the money.

What a treat. The 40 minute Grand Tour with snow landing from Franz Joseph was fantastic, a real once in a lifetime treat! A guide in NZ recommended this operator and they did not disappoint. Booking was simple and the check-in in Franz Josef is in the main street with the helipad very close by, so really easy to find.

Our pilot, Richard, was very professional and personable. The views of the Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers were amazing plus being able to fly so close to Mt Cook and Mt Tasmin were unforgettable. As for the snow landing we were very lucky as the weather was perfect - blue skies, little cloud or wind, and a great opportunity for photos and to walk on the glacier.

Our driver recommended this tour as we wouldn't get soaked like on other speed river rides.
We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The boat captain was hilarious and had us all laughing with some of the irreverent comments he made.
The scenery was stunning and we were even allowed out of the boat at one point to take photos from a small stretch of dry land.
And of course near the end of our thrilling trip we were treated to a few 360s done at speed to put the icing on the cake. Very enjoyable experience.

We flew with Pete and his team this April to access some beautiful New Zealand backcountry and was impressed with the professional, friendly and safe flying with some great prices.
We will be back to this amazing part of NZ sometime soon
    Cheers mate
