Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There is a fascinating and beautiful temporary exhibition of photographs by Edward Burtynsky. The images are stunningly attractive but if you read the captions about the subject matter, they explain about the massive destruction of our planet by destroying forests, mineral extraction and over population.
    Very thought provoking.

The hotel is stunning! And man...the coffee! Probably the best my wife and I ever had. We enjoyed the breakfast, lunch at dinner. Fabienne, Matteo, Veronica ( funny and attentive!), Mara, Tara, Philothea!! You all were amazing! Not to forget the shuttle driver whose name we forgot): Thank you for an unforgettable time in Venice!

Loads of choice from a huge hypermarket selling food, drink clothes and homewares. Fantastic fresh food counters including fish / seafood, cheese, salads, cooked and raw meat products. A fantastic selection of wines, beers and spirits. All very good prices
Remember to weigh your fresh produce before going to the checkout though!!

The cathedral in Mestre is dedicated to San Lorenzo (Saint Lawrence), a deacon of persecuted Christians in Rome early 200s known for charitable work with the poor until he became a martyr. It is not certain whether he was burned with a grill set on fire. Anyway many miracles have been attributed to him.

The neoclassical style facade of the duomo dating from the 1790s is impressive, though I found the masonry where it is visible without plaster as astounding. Imagine the patience and craftmanship of hundreds of workers who put the building together.

The interior is light and adorned with fine sculptures. I attended mass here, but my Italian was just not good enough to understand the sermon.

Completed in 1912, this Art Nouveau style (Jugendstil) gallery put Mestre on the 20th century worldmap. A must for lovers of architecture, the steel and glass construction still looks like it is holding out. The gallery, filled with upmarket shops forms a pleasant link between the piazza Ferretto and the more modern part of town. Very nice to walk through, even if you are not interested in shopping.

This theatre is small, reminiscent of The Swan Theatre in Stratford Upon Avon, but way smaller.
I walked past it 3x times before I realised where it was.
If you've pre-booked tickets, you can't pick them up until about 30mins before showtime as the VERY rude woman on the ticket desk told me. The evening ticket ladies were a lot friendlier. The ushers were so helpful. They didn't speak any English but we got there in the end with my broken Italian. I wish I'd got the one ushers name, who went out of his way to show me to my seat, thank you.
I sat in a gallery seat and they are all pretty close together. I'm 5'4" and my knees were touching the seats in front of me, so I'd hate to think how someone taller was feeling.
Visibility of the stage was impeccable. Even when people started standing up, you still had a clear view of the stage and the artist from the gallery seats.
The acoustics in the theatre were beautiful. For a live set, this theatre truly delivered. You could close your eyes and enjoy the music perfectly.
This theatre is built by Italians only for Italians. I was the only none Italian there (I think) but I still enjoyed the concert.

Had gone to see a particular art piece, which I did, but not much else there. Is a short distance to very upscale clothing stores.

If you’re looking for hustle, trend, local, cheap drinks, amazing vibe - be sure to check this place out

Mestre offers a varied environment of bars but this place took us (4 seasoned travellers) to return each night!!

Bar platters of bread and meat served with most drinks (free)

House DJ for weekends offers homegrown rhythms and beats 😎

This place is crammed most nights and a glass of Prosecco is €3

Would I return... in a heartbeat... kinda miss it! 🤟
