Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

nice and quiet place , No traffic and noise from cars or motorbikes. The proper mix of Tourists and locals. you are a part of the every day life and not part of a place that is tourist attraction

I took the train from Mestre to Treviso.

Everything was easy. There is a large ticket office as well as self-service machines in various languages.

Departure boards are all over showing the next departures.

Signs are in Italian and in English.

As always in Italy, scattered around the station there are huge paper displays showing all the departures from the station in chronological order.

Loads or eateries, cafés, shops, etc.

A gem in Mestre, perfect for walking, running, and cycling. Fantastic views of Venice across the lagoon. Perfect for stretching the legs after a long plane ride!

Loads of choice from a huge hypermarket selling food, drink clothes and homewares. Fantastic fresh food counters including fish / seafood, cheese, salads, cooked and raw meat products. A fantastic selection of wines, beers and spirits. All very good prices
Remember to weigh your fresh produce before going to the checkout though!!

Hidden away in the countryside between the town and the country is this fort, built in about 1890 to protect the city of Venice, one of a string of such forts.
A group of dedicated locals have restored and continuing to restore this once important fort around Venice. They have a done a good job of clearing the site and making it a place you can actually visit.
A good guide is available but I think it is only open at the weekend.

The cathedral in Mestre is dedicated to San Lorenzo (Saint Lawrence), a deacon of persecuted Christians in Rome early 200s known for charitable work with the poor until he became a martyr. It is not certain whether he was burned with a grill set on fire. Anyway many miracles have been attributed to him.

The neoclassical style facade of the duomo dating from the 1790s is impressive, though I found the masonry where it is visible without plaster as astounding. Imagine the patience and craftmanship of hundreds of workers who put the building together.

The interior is light and adorned with fine sculptures. I attended mass here, but my Italian was just not good enough to understand the sermon.

Completed in 1912, this Art Nouveau style (Jugendstil) gallery put Mestre on the 20th century worldmap. A must for lovers of architecture, the steel and glass construction still looks like it is holding out. The gallery, filled with upmarket shops forms a pleasant link between the piazza Ferretto and the more modern part of town. Very nice to walk through, even if you are not interested in shopping.

This is a small (re)forested area between canals just northwest of the Parco San Giuliano in Mestre. It is part of an effort to create more green spaces in the densely populated urban Mestre area. The circumference of Bosco dell 'Orsellino is just 1.5 km.

Good for a walk or to run or cycle. There are some info boards describing plant and animal life. To get there on foot from the center of Mestre is not easy. Make sure to find the overpass for pedestrians to cross the busy highway Via Amerigo Vespucci. I used google maps to find my way.

This is an ordinary church with an unnecessary entry fee of 3 Euros, which is an exuberant sum for such a small and unimpressive church.
