The logistics of our trip were so comfortable (3 hour kayak along coast and out to a bird sanctuary island then beach and lunch and a 4+ hour hike back to start along the coastline - we took longer than most due to a desire to dawdle and explore beaches, and we're 70+).
Staff are all enthusiastic, caring, and obviously in love with their jobs and their country. It's a fantastic experience.
There are many options which they can help you sort through and choose the best one for you, your group, and your time availability.

Rain at lunch disappeared once we got out on the water. A delightful afternoon kayak with guide Pandi who took us along the coast. The highlight was the group of baby seals frolicking by an island. They were still young enough to be curious about humans and swam back and forth only a handful of meters away. - Escape532738409741 contributionWent on a tour with my mother, and it was excellent. Our guide was Quinn was our guide and he kept it entertaining by using his knowledge of local wildlife. While it’s not promised he made sure we could see as many creatures as possible. As far as the admin task I would send anyone there. They ensure you make it to your destination at every step of the way. If it is a smaller group they can cater the experience to what you want to see. I would recommend this to anyone and I wouldn’t ever worry about sending someone to them. The service we received was excellent and all the staff were wonderfully welcoming. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed both the hike and the kayaking and could not decide which of the many highlights of this day, was our favorite. The scenery is just gorgeous! He had not been guiding at Abel Tasman Kyaks much more than 3mths, but without a doublt he knows his stuff & even ALL the local points if interest. He is professional an seasoned veteran . Very attentive to all needs & abillities.
Not had to recomend thus as a must do if you want to how NZ used to be, prime untouched, golden sand water.
Perfect weather *29 C made for a perfect day for all, incleding 2 teenage boys.
A nice workout with plenty of rewards at many bays from Arwaroa down to Barks bay, with serveral swims & lunch along the way.

- Iman26 contributionsWe had a great experience with Kahu kayak. Staff are super friendly. It was our first ever kayak experience with little swimming skill. At first, we were quite anxious but our super helpful guide (Kurt) made us relaxed and made our trip so memorable. He was so patient in guiding us. The kayak ride was around 1 hour each side. When we arrived in the split apple rock beach, he made us a perfect coffee and gave us some time to swim and play. He even arranged a game for us that was so fun. In summary, Kurt did far beyond his job and we are very thankful for that. This is a must do actively in the Northern part of South Island and Kahu kayak is a great and trusted place for that. Every staff member from was friendly, helpful and efficient but Mitchell, our guide, was amazing. His ability to anticipate our needs, keep to the schedule, to provide the details we needed, to make the necessary adjustments (on the third day he provided us with a walking option that was very satifying) and to prepare healthy, delicious meals and snacks for up to 10 of us was truly amazing. The campsites were set up for us and we even had air mattresses. We are not strong paddlers so a kayak/walk/kayak may have been a better choice for us as the waves and headwind around a couple of of the points were hard but Mitchell made it work for us. Thank you Mitchell! - Zac ECoolangatta, Australia3 contributionsJust wanted to leave a review to say thanks to Abel Tasman Kayaks for an awesome experience. All of the staff were so helpful, friendly and accomodating. I had no previous experience paddling so was honestly a bit nervous but right from the start the guy sorting us out (can’t remember his name but he was the big blonde Viking, you know who you are) was so chilled and informative that he quickly dismantled any doubts.
The kayaks had so much space we could easily have taken triple the amount of food that we did.
The campsites were awesome. We got maps that were super helpful. Everything was perfect.

Fast and efficient security briefing and drop off and pick up service from the store to the beach included. There are also showers which was awesome.
