Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Lord MJersey, UK312 contributionsWe stumbled upon this business while trying to get a coffee. We checked the timetable out as we wanted to walk back from The Anchorage beach. The boat was going now and not in 45 minutes as we thought.
We paid and then shot off to get our stuff from the car. We had time for a look stop and then off we went.
The pick up is by tractor, with you seated in the boat behind. You are then deposited in the water (still in the boat) and off you go. The boats are very clever and reverse up the beach.
We did a tour of split rock, looked at a few sea lion, were told a little bit of NZ history, and for a boat trip too.
We were dropped off without getting our feet wet. Good job.Written 5 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Glenn and the girl with Dutch heritage (cannot remember her name apologies!) were so lovely and great hostsWritten 28 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Liz MAuckland Central, New Zealand2 contributionsI recently enjoyed a wonderful trek along magical Marahau beach with 2 others and Leena as guide. We were so lucky to get the most glorious, sunny weather to enjoy the spectacular scenery and perfect peace and quiet of this part of New Zealand.
The initial briefing ensures that everyone stays safe and is able to fully enjoy the trek. The horses are safe, well-schooled and very well cared for. Leena is calm and kind and ensures that everyone enjoys the experience in a safe and relaxed manner.

- Karin Brøchner Ø1 contributionTook a family kayak tour with guide to Split Apple Rock. Great service, nice and competent guide and a really good experience for a family with 2 kids aged 8 and 13 years. - Vacation415065387896 contributionsHad a nice day on the NZ coast doing the Gourmet Platter kayak adventure. Got “Water Taxi”-ed around a couple bays, did a 2 hour hike and finished with a 2 hour kayak paddle. Jo was a very good kayak guide. We finished with 5 kayaks side-by-side “sailing” back to the start. A good time but for $230 per person maybe MSK can provide a little food or drink or a company kayak patch/ sticker.

We provided our body dimensions for the trip (wetsuits). Only three tourists were on this trip; ourselves and another boy.
Our pick-up was at the kiosks of Kaiteriteri in the early morning, where we got dressed in really new wetsuits.
With the small boat we went to an island where this Abel Tasman DIVE company had the lone rights for landing, which avoided many visitors to the place and made Marke Chamberlain well aqcuinted with the small seal colony and the many pups.
The small bay has a shallow end where you can stand, but because it is still shaded in the morning the water remains cool. My wife had an insulated head/hair cover which kept her warm. I did not, and after about two hours in the water it became a bit cold on my head.
During all this time we could float, stand, swim with dozens of pups and a couple of teenagers who were rather inquisitive. There were no large male sealions around.
This is really what I expacted from swimming with seals, when they are all around you.
Compared with other (almost private) trips this had an excellent high quality/cost ratio.
I had purchased a small underwatercamera and this experience made that purchase very worthwile.
The whole trip took the whole morning and was one of the most memorables from out two months stay in NZ. Tanks Mark, we had a wonderfull time.Written 3 May 2013This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. What was absolutely a really good decision!
You need at least 3,5h to get the full experience.
After a good briefing we head north to the seal Colonie. We saw lots of seals with their puppies. We also saw lots of birds and some fish jumping.
Great experience, day full of fun! Bring enough water and a snack.
Paddling not hard as all. We had not much wind :) did the tour from 1-4:30 pm
Would definitely recommend. Thanks to the really nice british instructor (sorry forgot your name). Really good briefing and tips for the trip.Written 30 March 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
