What travellers are saying
- Lis1 contributionNothe Fort, firstly! The volunteers (especially our guide) are exceptional and cant be praised enough also more than happy to guide and spent 3 hours with us showing passion and dedication of which shines through, what a pleasure to be treated so well at such a wonderful Fort. The Fort is incredible, packed full of information and equipment ie guns, canons etc including amazing miniature model displays of the Forts building in progress, it’s truly amazing. There is so much to see and walk around with passages and rooms everywhere. I can’t express enough how wonderful this Fort is including their amazing staff full of knowledge and so helpful. If you like excitement and history then this Fort is perfect in every way. It also has a refreshment area and little novelty shop. There’s also a “find the mice hunt” for kids it’s adorable xWritten 1 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. LOCATION AND ACCESS
The drive is beautiful and Abbotsbury is a lovely village with tea rooms and lovely old pubs
The walk is around 400 metres from the entrance to the swannery itself but you can drive down if you have mobility issues. Its then very flat and disabled friendly throughout
FACILITIES AND SERVICES
Small gift shop, a few interactive areas and random shipping and war artefacts plus toilet facilities at the entrance area only, although there are disabled toilets half way to the swannery
A children’s park is a nice touch to keep them occupied as is a small cinema style room where they tell you about it all
FOOD AND DRINK
A small well priced cafe and the gift shop with fudge and jams etc is on offer
OFFICIAL FOODTRAVELMUSICLOVE.COM RATING
In our professional opinion the swannery is a unique attraction and a nice option for all age ranges interested in the beauty of swans
Our official rating is 8/10, equal to a Tripadvisor rating of 4 stars.

- Elizabeth A21 contributionsSuch a fabulous experience, out on the land. Thought I knew a lot about the countryside but I was wrong.
Gary opened our knowledge and shared so much fascinating information. Bella at Rockpool did a fabulous job at handling the kids and making it enjoyable for them, even gave all of us stickers!! The food was amazing and i would definitely recommend it to anyone with little kids, we all loved the animal feeds as well, can tell the staff take great care at what they do!! Only thing i can say is that it is a tad expensive but apart from that everything was spot on! Best Sea Life i’ve ever been too!!Written 11 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kim22 contributionsAccomodation: Lanehouse 2 bed pet friendly. Location was great right next to the complex but first impressions we were disappointed. Joined veranda with two other lodges not an issue in February when we visited but I wouldn't want to be sat out with two other families in the summer. They are located under a thick canopy of trees. The lodges are obviously old, and look like sheds. Inside the lodge was surprisingly spacious and recently renovated. If you looked hard enough you could find fault but overall very pleasant and just fine. The beds are small, the double bed is a small double, the mattress smaller than the base but comfy non the less. A few small issues were rectified quickly by the maintenance team.
Facilities: the main reason we went to warmwell was the activities.
Swimming pool - needs tlc. Kids review of the flume was damming but raved about the wave machine. The changing rooms are not great.
Roller disco - fully booked. We skated in the day £5 per person very enjoyable and good fun.
Soft play - free and great for wasting some time.
High ropes - fantastic! Worth the money the staff were incredible helping and encouraging people.
Craft hut - we built bears. Not on par with build a bear experience but the kids enjoyed it.
Crazy golf - good fun but in need of some love and care.
Ski rings - the kids favourite. They had a blast. It was a fantastic atmosphere everyone enjoying themselves.
Food: we ate at the resturant breakfast and dinner. Food was good. If you have a fussy eater changing items on the dish depends on who you speak to. Some will change items others will not.
Evening entertainment: good cheesy fun. The kids had a blast dancing and playing games as did we.
Overall we would return but having spent a small fortune once on site we may need to save abit first.Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KentEnglandLifeChatham, UK2,681 contributionsAs other have said because of the castles structure we can no go in the castle at this point. However it's still worth a visit to see this castle, part of Henry Viii's Kings Device to protect England from French and Spanish invasions. The Tudor inspired gardens are lovely too. The small snack bar did a nice coffee and it was nice to relax outside in such a beautiful area. Free to enter.Written 9 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
