Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Quirky, eclectic neighbourhood. Probably the most lively neighbourhood we encountered in Oslo. It helped that we visited on a day when a festival was happening right at Olaf Ryes Plass, so we probably experienced a higher level of vibrancy than what is typical in the area. There were food trucks and street vendors all over the place, but there were also established restaurants that seemed to be popular and offered a great variety of cuisines to choose from.

This is a good area to check out for those looking to experience a more "real" side of Oslo, where locals hang out away from the touristy beaten path.

Tons of restaurants, the sculpture park, the art museum, and lovely views of the harbor make it a great place to walk around. Plus, there is a little beach where you can swim.

Next to in Vulkan and mathallen you will find a door that leads to an elevator that takes you to the eighth floor and the secret rooftop bar in this area. There are usually know science this is a local secret but ask any other bar for the location they will gladly help you to find the secret elevator.

Here you can drink champagne wine and beer until the late hours in the summer sun

It’s a lovely relaxing space with choices of eateries including Lofthus Samvirkelag Tranen where we had breakfast. Seating benches aplenty are available.

Grand water features are further attractions. Its name honours one of the greats of Norwegian Literature who died in 1906.

It’s a lovely tranquil square with fine architecture. Named in honour of Hannibal Sehested, son-in-law of Christian IV and Governor of Norway, apparently it was inspired by the Parisian Place Vendôme.

In two impressive buildings opposite one another are the major publishers Gyldendal and H. Aschehoug & Co.

At its centre is a fountain with a sculpture showing a tender moment of a mother and infant.
