Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A treasured place of worship, still extant from its completion in the mid 1100s. In the Romanesque style, it is surmised that it was built by King Olav.

It has been restored a number of times during the long centuries, and today is very impressive. It is the starting point for the Pilgrim Route to Trondheim. While visiting chatted to some people starting off on that long and holy trek.

Surrounded by a cemetery with headstones a number of them quite old. In the grounds is a lovely sculpture of a woman with head bowed and holding a garland of flowers.

It’s a beautiful edifice that was consecrated in 1891. In a lovely Neo-Gothic style, red brick and conical towers are outstanding.

A number of renowned organs emanate sonorous music for a congregation of around 600. Stained glass windows are vibrant.

An inspiring vista along the nave leads to an absorbing altarpiece by the artist Christen Brun.

An amazing experience to visit and see this modern and grand Grand Mosque built by the Oslo Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. At the time the Centenary year of the women's wing of the movement was being commemorated, the mosque had been opened to the public to visit and share in the celebrations. There are multiple prayer halls where you can worship and contemplate or make your private prayer.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Movement believe that Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad who established the community in 1889 in India is the same Messiah that all the Worlds Great Religions (Islam, Christianity, Judaism) await. You can get free literature to learn more, often in multiple languages.

    Highly recommend this!!

Its a large cemetery, but not especially pretty.
Would rather recommend visitors to visit VÃ¥r Frelsers Gravlund that is similar and contain the graves of Henrik Ibsen and Edvard Munch.

On arrival it was a tad disappointing to find the building sheathed in scaffolding so not possible to visit the interior.

However the minarets looked wonderful against the sky. It was also possible to admire some of the geometric artwork from a distance.

This church was completed in 1892 in the Grünerløkka district, just opposite the Birkelunden Park.

The church has a German Gothic style. It has a high narrow tower above the entrance.

Homogenous within a row of buildings, its fine façade in granite is a landmark on the tree-lined Bygdøy allé.

Dating from 1907 it serves well its congregation. An impressive bell tower crowned with pyramidal green is lovely.

Grand stone craft adorns the entrance. Above the main door is a bas-relief of the Lamb of God.

This beautiful local church gives the right setting for services as well as for concerts. The church is popular for weddings and babtisms. My relation to this church goes back to my early childhood. Later my own children were exposed to the congregation through Sunday school and youth clubs. The graveyard is beautifully located around the church. Several of my close relatives are resting there as well as many acquaintances from my life. To walk around among these tombstones therefore is very special.
The church is a landmark in this part of Oslo both spiritually and geographically.

Church is small, but beautiful and intimate inside. It is situated in the former chapel which is situated on the right side from the entrance to Frelsers gravlund (Saviour's cemetery) if you follow Akersgata from the downtown.
It is also possible to take a 37 bus from Central Station until you reach Stensberggata and walk across the cemetery which it is quiet impressive on its own. Edward Munch and Henrik Ibsen are buried here.
Church services are held every Sunday at 11 am. I visited the church on a Resurrection Sunday.
