Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Ron SNew York City, NY5,471 contributionsDo not confuse Uvdal Church with Uvdal Stave Church. If you're driving from west to east on Fv40 the Uvdal Church will be on the right just past the turn on to Fv122 you will have to make to get to the Uvdal Stave Church. It's built in a traditional style and it looks somewhat medieval but it's not.
Uvdal Stave Church was built in the 12th century. The exterior appears to be recently tarred which creates an authentic feel. The interior is ornately decorated, probably in the 17th century. A guided tour in English is provided upon request. There's a small open air museum with a number of old buildings scattered in the adjacent area. The admission fee covers both the church and the museum.Written 4 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Didn’t have time for the interior, which I believe is being charged at NOK 70/each, but the church from the outside is already well worth the stop.Written 9 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EnicolaiSOslo, Norway5 contributionsExcellent museum with booth original home of the painter and a large gallery in the side building.
There are many small and big paintings in the home of 1880s painter Christian Skredsvig. The home is like a time machine into the old times with all the furniture, kitchen ware, books, letters, paintings, etc.
In the gallery there are restrooms and a cafeWritten 11 June 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ingeborg56Oslo, Norway2,410 contributionsOnce a week they have a special programme for children now in the high season. In addition to the manor house, there is a very Nice Exhibition by some Norwegian artists (lots of art work by one of my favorite artists - Ida Elisabeth), a shop, a cafe, there are a few animals like Rabbits, hens and a Peacock to look at.Written 28 July 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - norsolbergTonsberg, Norway22 contributionsFor lovers of history, Norwegian in particular, a visit to Gildehallen I a must. Crammed with objects you probably have never seen before, it certainly challenges your imagination, and the old handicraft is meticulously beautiful! Gildehallen can be rented for private candlelit parties.Written 25 April 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Gabriel HBellaire, TX7,117 contributionsThis is a lovely wooden church in a small community (about 3500 inhabitants). It is surrounded by an old cemetery, where a few historical personalities are buried. As you would expect from a Norwegian church, the interior is sparsely decorated and sober. From the church, you can see the town's great ski jump.Written 29 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
