Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This statue is located very close to the Castle at the Harbour but to actually stand next to it depends a little determination as you have to clamber over some rocks. Judging by the worn parts of the statue (hands, shoulder, nose and bottom!) from people stroking it, it seems many people have done just that!
The statue is of a young woman lying over a rock looking in the direction of the castle - is she expecting someone to approach from that direction or is she just looking wistfully and dreaming?
I think it is a charming piece of art and compliments the other statues/sculptures that the artist has on display in Pafos namely the Little Boy with the Fish further along the harbour road towards Geroskipou ot the Little Girl with the Sparrow outside the market in the Old Town.
If you want a more detailed description of what the statute is about please read the excellent review by David D that was posted in October.

Another sculpture in a series by a local artist. This one compliments the others; Sol Alter by the Harbour Castle and the Little Girl with the Sparrow outside the market in Ktima Pafos (old Town).
This sculpture is situated at the end of a concrete pier along Leoforos Poseidonos a little before the road starts to rise slightly. What the boy is trying to do I do not know because the fish is much too large to try to hide but I'm sure the Boy with a Fish has appeared in many tourists' photos as it is a good place to pose especially at dusk with the setting sun behind.

Well, what can I say about girl with a “sparrow”
After spending seconds looking for the girl with a “sparrow” whilst sitting in a very pleasant cafe across the road,,
Upon closer inspection there was indeed a girl, however no “sparrow”was in sight!!!
What has happened, had the “sparrow” literally “flown the nest”
Had one of the local cats had it for dinner???
Or indeed, was this all a ruse to get people to visit a statue of a girl on a bench????
I guess we will never know,,,

On the plus side there is a nice view of the car park below 👍

This memorial commemorates the Genocide of the Greek Pontus people.

Wednesday 5th October we visited this kerbside memorial which is located along Agapinoros at the rear of the Church of Agion Anargyron, which we were on our way to visit.

It consists of an obelisk pillar, on the front of the pillar there is a carved eagle, the emblem of one of the Pontian Flags.

The Obelisk is topped with a simple cross and stands on a plinth, which has an inscribed plaque on the front.

The Memorial is a permanent reminder that the Pontic Greeks will never forget the barbarities, displacements, persecutions and the massacres committed by the Turks. These atrocities where committed against 353,000 Pontic Greeks between 1916-1923.

There is a small plaque which bears two inscriptions, ΟΥΔΕΙΣ ΛΗΣΜΟΝΕΙ (nobody forgets) and ΟΥΔΕN ΛΗΣΜΟΝΕΙTAI (No Memory).

Thursday 13th October we were in the Old Town of Paphos where we saw this rather bizarre sculpture.

It is located on a decked area off Nicodemou Milona in Dioikitiria Square. Cafe Nero and the Girl with the Sparrow Sculpture are nearby.

It is one of two monoliths, the second one is on display in Larnaca.

The bronze sculpture, covered in verde gris, attempts to remind people of the modern world that while they are immersed with their gadgets and phones that simple human skills are being lost. The simple ability of feeling, touching, holding hands and hugging are alternative methods of communication without the use of emojis or GIFs.

The sense of touch is with us since childhood but gets overtaken when introduced to technology.

There is an explanation about the sculpture on a panel attached to its front.
