What travellers are saying
- David SBampton, UK4 contributionsThe interior of this Cathedral is spectacular so with a visit. Would recommend buying a ticket online, at least 24 hours in advance, to avoid long queues.Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - pandkCanberraCanberra2 contributionsWe arrived in time to catch up to the tour just started- Andy, ex-US Army, now resident in Malta, gave an engaging and surprisingly in depth overview of the operations of the war rooms, both in relation to the defence of Malta against Axis air raids; and in relation to its role in Operation Husky, the invasion of Sicily. In addition many well presented displays on various aspects of the operations of the war rooms in the war and later. Highly recommended, and I hope you get Andy as your guide.Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AliciaGaysonLawrenceCounty Dublin, Ireland345 contributionsThe scenery in Valetta will take your breath away and none more so than these gardens and stunning views. - Emma CNottingham, UK21 contributionsVery good visit. Went on the tunnels tour and would definitely recommend if you like the history of World War II and what happened behind the scenes. Was glad to have done the visit when not too hot as apparently it can get very humid inside.Written 12 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Judith GAberdeen, UK129 contributionsLovely house just off the main streets in Valletta. Definitely worth a visit. We loved meeting the owner who was so interesting to listen to. He told us about his house and the items in it. There’s so many items to see. We downloaded the app on to our phones and it was so easy to use. We loved meeting the parrot in the garden and seeing the terrapins. We saw a lot of people passing it by but please take a look in and support the last house left with all of its history. There’s a B&B downstairs as well. Look out for the old stunning Bentley car when you go to the toilets. It’s in the garage next door.Written 11 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jake CGreater Manchester, UK157 contributionsNot only has the fort been preserved in great condition, it is now a museum which gives an excellent insight into Malta’s history, from BC right up to the modern day.
Make sure that you walk the perimeter of the fort as there are great views of the surrounding islands and three cities. I would consider picking up a map at the customer information point by the entrance as there are lots of small rooms with really interesting exhibitions that are easy to miss.
I really had no idea how much of an important role Britain played in supporting Malta through industrialisation and protecting the island during WWII, until I visited Fort St Elmo.
A must visit if you are in Valletta.Written 15 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The waterfront is a must, and if you want to see the gun salute at noon, get there early for a good view as it gets very crowdedWritten 28 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RuthDatalogicsWest Dundee, IL28 contributionsI really enjoyed this introductory film to the long amazing history of Malta. Yes the technology was older but it is impeccable maintained and really what has changed in 3 years compared with 7000 that are included here. Everyone can listen in their own language. Our guide for the hospital tour was a treasure. Some colleagues got an app driven tour and didn’t get half as much info as we did. A fascinating place on a fascinating town in a fascinating country!Written 9 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kaiya R37 contributionsA lovely place to sit down and relax, bring a coffee along and just take in the views, plenty of benches to rest on. Can be slightly windy as it’s on a cliff edge.Written 13 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- HobbyLiverpool, UK1,583 contributionsCaught the hydrofoil from Valletta, to Cospicua, cost €2 each return, then walked along the front to view Valetta. Then caught the land train, which cost €6 each for 30 min tour of all 3 cities. There were v few tourists so fairly quiet, completely different to Valetta, with lots of history and lovely looking buildings.
