Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This tour was the best highlight of my trip to Iceland. We had a small group of around 12-14 people on our mini-bus for the day. Our driver/guide was informative and engaging all day, and was an expert glacier guide. We walked past all the big-bus tour groups milling around at the bottom of the glacier, put on our crampons and helmets, and hiked away up the empty, quiet glacier. I got to see things that only a small fraction of tourists will get to see. The tour stops were timed so that we reached the glacier around noon, and we mostly had the glacier to ourselves for our hike, since other tours take people for lunch at that time. The hike is quite long, but only moderately strenuous, and we took lots of photo breaks on the way up. Anyone in good health should be able to do it.

We stopped to buy our lunches at a convenience store before the hike, and then ate on the bus after the hike, on our way to the other waterfalls and black sand beach, so no time was wasted. Everything was efficient, giving us plenty of time to see all the natural attractions at the stops. All the south coast tour buses stop at the same places, but the chance to hike on the glacier instead of simply seeing it sets this one apart.

Cannot recommend this tour enough. Einar was a brilliant tour guide full of great knowledge, good spirit, and very patient. I had the best time, and the sights were unbelievable. There was plenty of time for everything, and nothing ever felt rushed or too much.
It was well organised all in all by the company, although only downside was the even though I told them my location pick up, it wasn't until I got in touch the day before to confirm that they told me they had to pick me up from somewhere else. Not sure if or when they'd have let me know that, but when I did get in touch they were fast to respond, and clear in their instructions.

This tour was one of the coolest things we experienced on our trip! Being able to climb inside the glacier into naturally eroded caves was like something out of this world! Definitely worth the cost if you’ve never experience Ice Caves before!

Oddi was an incredible guide! He took us to the site of the 2021 eruption and to some geothermal pools nearby. He told fun stories and brought us treats to consume at the mouth of a cave made of cooled lava. He couldn’t have been more kind, funny, or knowledgeable. Thank you for a great day!

We saw beautiful places all around Iceland, even more than on the official itinerary, thanks to our wonderful tour guide Vjeran, who also provided us with lots of insights and facts about the country, its nature and history! 10/10 would recommend!

First, I live in a very flat area. I prepared by wearing weights on my back while I walked around my neighborhood and by doing hill rides on my Peloton. Ma'am, Sir, I was not ready! LOL This hike was straight up hill. Note, locals were walking and running past me like they were walking on flat ground. LOL I say all this to say that the guide was beyond patient with me and led me up Mt. Esja with care. It's a beautiful hike. I really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend this hike especially for a solo traveler. The guide was a gentleman, on time, and communicated effectively before and during the hike.

AWESOME! Damien, aka "JJ", is an amazing guide. This is not a "usual" tour. Be prepared to have FUN! Damien is informative, engaging and excellent providing history and geo facts. My husband and I are 77 and 66 years young, respectively, and we had an absolute blast in the cave! Damien made us feel safe and we had great laughs! We also had water from a hot stream and Damien was our "chef" masterfully cooking eggs in the hot spring that were delicious! We were delighted that this was an "activity tour" rather than just touring on a bus...the day is truly a lifetime memory...a "DO NOT MISS" tour!

Really enjoyed this tour with Artic Adventures! We felt safe and comfortable the entire trip. I definitely recommend adding the lava tunnel - an amazing experience to learn and experience the beauty! Our guide Christopher was exceptional and made the trip informative and fun - thank you!

I just finished my second trip with Amarok Adventures. After a super amazing experience on the Hidden Trails of Iceland hike a couple years ago, I decided to join Albert and Monica and their local team on the Manaslu Circuit trek in Nepal. Starting at Machhakhola, we followed the mighty Budhi Gandaki River through many villages and across many suspension bridges, climbing steadily toward its source until it became just a trickle. We then went over Larke Pass (5106 m). The return trip took us down the equally stunning Marsyangdi River canyon. Almost every mile of the route was challenging, but every mile was worth it. From airport pickup through cultural and altitude acclimatizing to permits, meals and sleeping arrangements at the local tea houses along the way, everything was handled with care. Every step of the way I felt like I mattered. Like my previous experience with Amarok, our group of strangers became very good friends. What a wonderful experience! I’ve now thoroughly enjoyed two trips with Amarok Adventures and I am looking forward to a third soon.

Our trip wasn’t fully booked but since we couldn’t reschedule because of other tours booked we got a private tour. And it was amazing. Our guide spent the day with us telling us amazing stories about trolls, and the history of Iceland. He was very knowledgeable and we loved this tour! The geothermal bakery and the waterfalls were my favourite!
