This beach is stunning with beautiful clear waters and a pleasant temperature, making it a fantastic place to relax and enjoy. Keep in mind that there isn't much shade, so come prepared. You'll park your car and walk a few minutes to reach the beach, but it's worth the effort. There's also a canteen on the beach in case you get hungry. All in all, this is a must-visit beach! 🏖

The island of Gramvousa is located northwest of Kissamos and northwest of the famous lagoon of Balos.

Gramvousa is famous for its historical Venetian fortress, which stands at a height of 137m over the beach. The day was pretty hot and I decided not to trek up the Mountain but I saw photos of our boat companions and the views were stunning.

The sea is turquoise and absolutely breathtaking.

Balos on the other hand is known as one of the most famous and mesmerizing beaches in Greece. It's a lagoon located on the west side of the Gramvoussa cape. Its "white sand" and turquoise waters glistening under the sun create a scenery that is truly unforgettable.

Both stops in my view were mesmerizing as was the scenery along the way.

    Definitely recommend if visiting Crete.

We bought our tickets directly at Kissamos port, easy peasy. 34€ each

The 1€ additional charge per ticket is an entrance fee for outdoor projects recreational use contributory to road conservation to stay cleaned and to be preserved by the community and restoration of the protected area of the cape of Gramvousa and Balos.

The boat we were on was called "Porto Gramvousa and the agent was Cretan Daily Cruises.

While we packed a lunch and beverages there was really no need because there were many hot/cold options to choose from on the boat that were reasonably priced and they offered take away service.

This is a tour that I would highly recommend based on my experience. It was a beautiful day.

After arriving at Gramvousa we spent 2 hours swimming in the sea, it took 20 minutes to cross over to Balos Lagoon and we had 2 hours to enjoy there before returning to the port of Kissamos.

Driving up the dirt road to Balos was out of the question in the rental vehicle. From the boat we watched vehicles moving at a snails pace up and down the steep inclines. Its my understanding that once you get to the top you have to park and walk down/back up from the Lagoon. No thanks, the boat ride was fun, met some good people from France and enjoyed the day.

Highly recommend if visiting Crete 👌

The Museum is situated not far from the port, and despite many street signs having their English translation defaced, it is fairly easy to find. Admission is currently 12 Euros. It is a fairly small museum, but holds some incredible finds. There's a cafe, a gift shop, and toilets. Visitors to the museum have to pass through a metal-detecting portal, so if you have a Swiss Army Knife, for example, leave it in the car, or in your hotel. Photography is allowed.

This is a wonderful place to visit with lovely staff dedicated to dispelling myths about reptiles and some amazing specimens. The aquariums include two different octopus and other fish that can be found in the sea around Crete but it is the reptile garden that is really wonderful in my view. If you are on Crete and you want to do something other than sit on the beach I would recommend this to you.

If you have children around the pool there is no life gaurd. Beach rocky. The evening shuts at 11pm, older bar man RUDE. There is a bar next door and one a little further up the road.

We enjoyed our trip to Spinalonga.
14 euros each on the ferry from Elounda. 8 euros each to walk around the island.
    Advice:
Get one of the first ferries across. It gets very busy very quickly.
Do not expect the friendly, helpful customer service from the ticket offices that you get elsewhere!
Beware of large tour groups trying to push in front of you onto ferries.
Take your own sustenance - busy and expensive cafe.
The ferry operators suggest you only have 1hr and 15mins until you need to get the return ferry. You are not limited to this time as you can get later ferries BUT as lunchtime approaches it has got busier and busier, as the conveyor belt of tourists really revs up. In our experience the time allowed is just enough. (You do a full circle of the island and it is very small.)

The road down to Falassarna beach reveals how long the beach is. There are various ways to reach the beach from south to north.
The peninsula at the northern end flanks the archaeological site of the old port. It is reached by a rough track.
There are rocky places where pink sand my be visible and snorkeling is possible.
A small number of hotels have now been added, also some very good tavernas, one of which is near the windsurfing centre. (Wind can sometimes be a sandblasting problem)!
Deres Horse Riding Center provides a complete experience of the riding, sunset, and evening meal - at a cost!
Sunloungers and parasols are available in a number of locations.
Sunsets depend on weather, but are usually fabulous.

During our stay in Chania we came here daily simply just strolling along the waterfront, or grab a bite and chill. The
harbor is stunning especially at sunset or at night when the place is lit up. There are endless restaurants and cafes but
I feel they are too touristy in their pricing. There are endless shopping at the many side streets. Overall, we enjoyed our
    times here.

Wonderful thing to do. I would say go early as our trip didn't get us there until 11am and it's hot. Mainly down hill and take a leckie stick.

Very good ruins. Make sure you book through official website Hellenic Heritage so you don’t pay booking fee and can easily change your tickets etc. so many websites sell tickets at a higher price

I definitely recommend this place. We were here as a family with a 6-year-old and a 12-year-old. They both listened to the narrator (an audio device that is worth renting when purchasing a ticket). A beautiful area with numerous treasures collected by the owners over the years. This place is a cross-section of the history of Greek life. Additionally, at the end you can eat and drink something good in a charming cafe or on the beach.
