Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were just amazed how incredibly interesting the whole course was and we met two very nice and talented young couple, it marked our anniversary of 41 years in style, the teacher was great and very talented too, he showed us how to paint and the result are now hanging in our home

We decided to just visit the park and not the museum, so I can't comment on the indoor displays, but we did enjoy the gardens. They are large, and undulating, but much is in the shade which was great for a very hot day. There is a rather charming grotto built around a pond with a huge number of frogs in it, some croaking noisily. The farm was peaceful and we enjoyed spotting egrets there. Some of the gardens are rather neglected, but there are signs to say that they are being rejuvenated - it must be a difficult job on very dry soil. There were some excellent information boards which gave the history of the place and were worth reading. We were disappointed that the tea garden was closed, as we were unsure that we could access the restaurant - there was nothing at the entrance or on the website that we could see to explain this. Ticketing could be far better explained - it's not clear what you are getting for your money, although to be fair I heard the counter assistants trying to help. Unfortunately that makes for longer queues than are necessary.

Be aware that there are major roadworks going on in the area to improve the transport system - it will be good when they are finished, but we had decided to walk up from the Metro and it made the walk dusty and tedious.

Great tour to do in Porto. We did the stadium tour first, this felt rather rushed with little time to read up the information on the app which we had purchased to go alongside the tour. It felt like we moved on from areas very quickly. However, the museum that followed was very impressive. It is very interactive and you can go around at your own pace. The whole experience was great. It contained lots of facts that we were not aware of about FC Porto. It was also not hugely expensive for a football tour in comparison to others we have visited but came away thinking it was great value for money as the museum was very well done. Would highly recommend doing it when in Porto.

A kids-friendly attraction that nearly everyone will learn something new. The theming is great. The boat ride was my best bit of the trip. However my advice for the museum is to introduce more about the most common diseases and injures whilst discovering.

Trip adviser said 2.8km from my hotel. My watch said I’d walked 4.5 km in each direction but there is interesting architecture to see along the way and I appreciated the peaceful space provided, a stunning house, some thought provoking art, relaxing gardens and a rejuvenating glass of wine with nibbles. Staff were great my only surprise was how few people had found this gem. I say only surprise but I still haven’t got used to sitting outside enjoying a glass to bird song, blooms and butterflies in >20 degrees in January!

This former prison build in neoclassical style in 1767 is now run by the Portuguese centre for photography. It is free to enter and as well as viewing the interior of the building which is interesting in itself, the photography exhibition has varied and eclectic displays. It features exhibitions of numerous Portuguese artists plus a wide ranging collection of historic cameras. If you have time, it is definitely worth a visit for an hour or so.

Really nice way to spend a relaxing afternoon. The variety within this museum was impressive and it's clearly very well maintained.

We enjoyed the food, the atmosphere of the city, etc,..but the only inconvenience is the timetable of the monuments because everything closes too early. It is difficult to plan the holidays with that timetable.

This well-situated apartment was an excellent home base for exploring all the historic parts of Porto on foot. Clean and equipped, we had everything we needed to cook basic meals and spend comfortable evenings and mornings. The view from the top apartment is gorgeous. Host is communicative and helpful. I recommend!

You will find the “Misericórdia Museum of Porto” in the historic center of Porto, and this in the “Rua das Flores”, in a building who was used as “the institution's headquarters” and this from the mid-16th century until the year 2013. By visiting the museum you will discover the history of the “Santa Casa da Misericórdia”, its institutional purposes and its art collections.
The museum opened in July 15 of the year 2015. And on the 3th of June in the year 2016, he was distinguished with the Portuguese Museum Award of the year 2016, given by the Associação Portuguesa de Museologia.
The visit of the museum goes as follows, you have to go first up-stairs and then you are coming down again by passing several rooms with different expositions. Worth a visit, even that the entrée fee is not that cheap.

I had tried to visit yesterday (Monday - google said it was open) but it was closed. Never mind. I visited today.
The current 2023 entry is 8 euros per adult. Their are family, senior and child tickets available.
Their is a superb historical tram collection that’s well worth viewing. Upstairs is dedicated to the ‘station’ workings.
However their is so much more they could do here. Eg a better gift shop, a cafe rather than a vending machine, guides giving tours, a short ‘drive a tram’ line etc.
They have the facilities and space.

Superb Natural History museum that works equally well as an Art museum. Informative and varied interactive exhibits. Brilliantly curated.

To visit the “Military Museum” in the city of Porto, you can park the car just beside the museum in the underground parking, not expensive at all. The Museum occupies the former premises of the former political police (PIDE), in Porto. What is noteworthy is the main building, this building has traces of a manor house from the beginning of the last century. As a museum, the large collection of miniatures of war figures is mostly significant, many of them are in lead, being a very interesting set by a private individual who donated them to the museum and which will be one of the best in Europe. Once you have finished the indoor part of the museum, you still have the outdoor pavilion and the garden, both contain an interesting collection of objects from the presence of Portugal in the 1st world war and in the overseas war. We warmly can advise a visit of this museum

The new water pavillion is completely different from it's predecessor... despite the fact the main building being the same.
The Water Pavillion was one of the attractions of Expo98 (Lisbon) and it was then brought to Porto, to the "Parque da Cidade" with the same contents, experiences etc. For 2 years now it has been under remodulation: the building gained another volume and the interior is totally different. An international "contest of ideas" was launched under the form of an international tender and a Portuguese heritage and museological enterprise (FCo - full service company in multimedia) won that tender. I'm really not neutral here because I'm working with that enterprise and the original museological programme for the new pavillion was mine... nevertheless, now that the inauguration is set for next Friday (the 22nd March 2019) I still believe we did a great job and that the new pavillion is very worth a visit! Visitors will find interactivity during the complete path, physical water experiments and digital challenges for all ages: it's both fund and educative. Come an have a go...!
