Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a great time on this tour. Because it was private, we could choose where we visted and whether or not we went into the Palaces. We decided to go into the Quinta da Regaleira and I 10/10 recommend you do the same. It's so unique and the grounds are huge - you could easily spend a full day in there. We also visited the National Palace, Pena Palace, and Europe's Western Most Point.

Our tour guide, Francisco, was amazing. He's super knowledgeable and kind and really catered the day to us. He was at our Airbnb pick up location early and was a very safe driver. He did a great job of balancing guiding us around with giving us space. For example, he was with us for about 30 minutes in Quinta da Regaleira and then let us explore on our own for 45 minutes.

We've done guided tours before where you're on a giant bus and getting herded like cattle - this was such a good relief from those. It felt like we had control over the day and how we spent our time, with lots of great advice and guidance from Francisco.

The food was great. First, we stopped at a pastry shop in Sintra and tried two local pastries (not pastel de nata, since you're likely to have that 12 times on your trip to Lisbon) and espresso. Then for lunch we went to a seaside restaurant with incredible views of the ocean and great food.

One thing to note is that tickets into the palaces and food is not included in the ticket price. This listing says that very clearly, but it's worth repeating. The pastries were cheap - about 6 euro total for 2 pastries and 3 espressos. Lunch was pricier - about 45 euros. You can look up ticket prices for the palaces you're hoping to enter. Everywhere took card or cash.

We loved Lukas with a “K” as our guide. They did an excellent job of communicating and Lukas was very thoughtful and engaging. The tour made sure we were up to Sintra to avoid the long lines and even purchased our entrance tickets beforehand to speed up our process and avoid the crowds. The entire tour was well thought out and our guide had many great photo ops and even put together a short slideshow to music for us. Our group became friends and it was nice that we were able to share photos on our What’s App group which Luka’s also created. We were taken to an amazing lunch at Toca do Julio that was an excellent value for some amazing food and drink. Very nice tour of the countryside surrounding Lisbon, with plenty of great memories. Thank you Happy Tours Portugal.

Great tour, we were picked up by Filipe who was very knowledgeable and gave us all lots of information about Lisbon and Portugal whilst driving us to and from Sintra, we had just the right amount of free time in each location to wander and explore and sampled some local food and drink, its a great tour and takes the hassle out of getting taxis or renting a car, plus you learn a lot.

Amazing views, Diogo was very knowledgeable and friendly, had a great time. Got a tour of the palace garden, inside the palace, had lunch in Sintra, drove through the countryside, stopped briefly at Colares and then went to Cascais.

This was one of the best tours we’ve ever done. My wife and I generally do day tours when we arrive in a new city. It’s the fastest way to get some bang for your buck. Our guide Renatta was awesome, spent the better part of 8 hours explaining to us the history of the historical locations we visited, and went into great about the country’s history as well. Super informative and really had this whole day running like clock work. If you’re a fan of punctuality and getting what you pay for, don’t miss this one!

We had a wonderful small group tour of Sintra with Portuguese for a Day! We would definitely recommend this tour, and there are others mentioned on their website that we would love to do in the future, too! The tickets to the Pena Palace and Quinta de la Regaleira were included (which is not the case with some other tours). We also stopped at Cabo da Roca and drove through Cascais (in high wind!). Our guide, Andre, was very punctual, professional and knowledgeable, and was enthusiastic about showing us a great time despite less than ideal weather. At each site, with a map, he outlined a path through the palace/grounds and mentioned important aspects not to miss! He also had made arrangements with a restaurant that we could eat at in Sintra if we wanted (optional, but we did, and it was good). We also appreciated that Andre shared lots of interesting insights into Portuguese history and culture with us. This trip was a wonderful part of our time in Lisbon and we'd highly recommend it! Thank you Andre, from V & G

Took the day trip to Sintra, didn’t want to include any other towns,it was extremely organised and everything was as advertised and even better. We visited both palaces without any rush, with thorough history and explanations and all needs were very well accomodated. Both Hugo and Diogo, our guides were so nice and enthusiastic, you could tell they love their jobs, and ready to answer all kinds of questions,

This was an amazing experience. Despite pouring rain, our guide Carolina made this a wonderful day. We enjoyed the Pena Palace and the Quinta de Regaliera greatly. Since I have mobility issues (really challenging in Sintra), Carolina adapted and gave us more of a local experience- a great lunch in a traditional restaurant and a port tasting with a proprietor passionate about explaining his art. For us, the best part of travel is connecting with people, and we felt like we got to see the historical beauty of Sintra with a wonderful personal connection.

8 ladies in a van with the wonderful Francisco. He was knowledgeable, fun, and offered great tid bits of “extra” historical facts. We had plenty of time to see all the sites and enjoyed a great day. Would highly recommend Francisco for any tour!

GREAT day! Our guide, Carolina, was energetic and informative and made the experience worth our time and money. She also did a great job engaging all members of the group and making us feel welcome and connected. So, it was a win not only learning things about Portugal, but also making new friends!
