Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely incredible tour and highly recommend it to everyone ! Our guide was Renan, and we covered the university and went into Coimbra . Renan was incredibly passionate, well knowledged . Answered all our questions. His love for history shines through and makes the tour so enjoyable . Covers an incredible amount of information in an efficient manner . Easy access to the chapel and the university library. Wish we had had more time but Renan made the most of it . Thank you for making the most of our Coimbra trip, Renan !

Was a very nice visit to the oldest active University. Library tour great, the palace was ok. The area is really nice for a quick stop.

We don't think there is any more fulfilling tour than this. Sérgio guided us through two characteristic villages (Candal and Talasnal). I think this is a special off-season project. There were still up Christmas decorations on January 4th, so we were able to enjoy a quiet and relaxing sightseeing experience. As a nature guide, he not only tells us about the native cork trees, the endemic animals of the mountain and the Schist Village, but also tells us about the characteristics of the Coimbra region. He send us a lots of photos after the tour.

Good little adventure. Booked the evening before. Your was promptly confirmed. Met at the pickup site, guide (Alfredo) was there waiting. He was friendly and spoke perfect English. As this was a spontaneous trip, I knew nothing really of the villages. Despite rainy weather, still had a good time. Found the three villages we visited quite interesting. Happy to have some free time to explore. Always happy to have a regional pastry. Bonus of some chestnut liqueur. 4 hours was perfect. Would recommend.

This tour was amazing!!! Don’t miss out on this trip. A visit to Coimbra is not complete without a visit to the Roman ruins!!
Our guide was Alfredo and he was extremely knowledgeable of the area and history, very friendly, was able to answer all of our questions and gave us just the right amount of time at each of the stops.
    Thanks for the great tour.

This tour was really incredible. Sergio was a great host, took us to beautiful locations, and was able to answer whatever questions we asked - whether it was about plants, culture, or history. An incredible way to kick off our time in Portugal. Would happily take this tour again, 100%!

Tour guide arrived on time was extremely informative and helpful.
Unfortunately the weather was not the best, it was Pouring Rain.
But we still were able to accomplish our goals to the sanctuary, light our candles and buy our souvenirs.
Thank You Xavier for your help and conversation. Hope to see you again.

We had a brilliant morning hiking and viewing the Roman ruins at Conimbriga with Alfredo. We were picked up at our Airbnb in Coimbra, and driven around 20 mins to the start of the hike site. It was a beautiful morning and after a few days in Lisbon it was lovely to get outside for some fresh air. The hike is not too challenging but I'd still recommend decent footwear as some sections were a little slippery. The Roman ruins exceeded all expectations and were incredibly impressive. Alfredo gave us the history as we walked around and answered our questions as we went. Highly recommended.

Sergio and Manuel treated me to a wonderful 4WD tour of the mountains around Coimbra. Roe deer, wild boar, rare birds, the scat of a predator, and more! What more does a person need? How about a great visit to a stone village, complete with a stone dog, stone art, and a taste of very local honey. Plus a cup of coffee and a pastel do nata from a stone coffee shop. We also collected digital photos from two trail cameras, hoping to see signs of other important wildlife. Definitely a morning well spent. Thanks, boys!

This was one of the best tours we have ever taken. The site is amazing! So much is intact - particularly the mosaic floors!! Often when visiting ruins, I have to use a lot of imagination to visualize what it looked like, but there was so much intact that I could get a sense of the place very easily.
Sergio was an informed and helpful guide. He took lots of pictures and then sent them to us.
We had a terrific day and highly recommend this tour!!

Carlos is extremely patient, helpful and well mannered. He was well informed and gave us balanced information of history and fact.
He very thoughtfully carried umbrellas and water for our tour.
His English is good and very eloquent.
Most importantly his car was spotless and odourless.
