Boca do Inferno Viewpoint Sete Cidades
#1 of 62 Sights & Landmarks in Sao Miguel
Climb a few steps, walk less than 5 minutes to the end of the trail, and you'll be treated to that wonderful iconic view of the caldera lakes around Sete Cidades -- possibly the best view anywhere in the Azores.
Brilliant stopping place to get wonderful views of this amazing Island which has so much variety in landscape and plant-life

From the viewpoint - which has a convenient parking - one can see panoramic, fascinating 360 all-around view of Lagoa Furnas, the park below, Furnas caldera with fumaroles and the in-ground cooking ares.
Views spectacular well worth a stop off to add some piccies to the holiday album.

Miradouro de Santa Iria Ribeira Grande
#4 of 62 Sights & Landmarks in Sao Miguel
Wow, you can’t beat this view!!! Mountains, water, valleys, blue skies, lush vegetation and so much more.
The quite isolated and lofty location means that Santa Iria was very peaceful, serene and beautiful - great views as you might expect, with only the flight of a large bird of prey (Goshawk?) to distract us.

Igreja do Santo Cristo Ponta Delgada
#5 of 62 Sights & Landmarks in Sao Miguel
Igreja do Santo Cristo is the landmark of Ponta Delgada, the church that is the center of Christianity in Azores.
If it is closed, the portico offers a great view of the port.
Nossa Senhora da Paz Vila Franca do Campo
#6 of 62 Sights & Landmarks in Sao Miguel
Particularly nice setting - when the site plants bloom: hydrangeas in Summer and aloes in November/December - sunrise and sunset in winter, when the sun rises and sets over the ocean.
A fantastic one-of-a-kind chapel with a great view of Vila Franca do Campo and the surrounding area.

Islet of Vila Franca do Campo Vila Franca do Campo
#7 of 62 Sights & Landmarks in Sao Miguel
The boat right is super short, and you have cool views of Sao Miguel, but also this little cove is such an amazing place to swim in and hang out with friends.
The ferry even takes you around the small island on the trip back to view the birds and sheer cliffs.

The gardens are spectacular, and well cared for- we really liked the fact that we were able to visit , and view some lovely displays of coleus, and Felicia in formal settings, in between some outstanding specimen...
There are benches available to rest and enjoy the views, and there are clean, well maintained visitor restrooms located near the walkway behind the palace about halfway through your self-guided tour route.
