This was our first trip to the Algarve and Alvor did not disappoint. Access to the boardwalk was directly from the back of our hotel. What a beautiful place to enjoy warm winter walks - we walked along it every day we went towards the town or to walk across the cliffs to the next resort. Great views and you can continue on your the nature reserve to see local wildlife although we didn’t venture that far. We used it in the evenings to access local restaurants dotted along the back of the beach but there is no lighting so had to watch our step but were gifted the light of a full moon and there’s a sports centre near the town end so their floodlights helped to guide us. We walked along another boardwalk where they had solar lights - this would be a great bonus for Alvor.

Scenery unreal in Praira da Rocha. Lovely resort with great bars and restaurants all near the beach! Great boardwalk along the beach to get the steps in.

Gorgeous beach. Here in November and SUNY and 68 degrees. Not many people on the beach. Surf is rough-not for swimming- but fun to watch.

Fascinating museum. Bit sceptical at visiting a museum about sardine production, but it was very cheap entry so we gave it a go. Absolutely brilliant- really well presented exhibition. Interesting videos showing the production process. Production hall really captured the process. Well worth a visit.

Myself and my Dad have just completed the skipper refresher course with Miguel who was an unbelievable instructor. Could not recommend him more. He was so patient and knowledgeable and the perfect balance of theory and practical work but making sure you enjoyed as much sailing as you could.

The water is clean and has a transparent colour. However, the water of the Atlantic Ocean can be very cold in this area. Even so, it can be refreshing to swim here on a hot summer day. Beware that the current on this beach can be strong. Be careful in the water when you are visiting with small children. Also watch out on the eastern end of the beach, since there are some big rocks in the water. It is best to avoid swimming near the rocks. There are no rocks in the water on the western side and in the middle section. The beach can be crowded, especially during the summer months. However, there is always enough space for everyone. Also, the people are not evenly distributed on the beach. The beach has both crowded and quiet areas. The most crowded part is the middle section. The more east or west you go from there, the less crowded it will get. If you prefer to have more privacy on the beach, avoid the middle section. The beach attracts all kinds of visitors, including families with children. The sandy beach is quite popular with kids to build sandcastles and to play in the sand.

The Mcdonald’s is much better than in England and all the food choices were lovely. Some places charged in GBP if wanted. The Sephora was a tad expensive but beautiful nonetheless. Primark and h&m were a bargain.

but obviously a lot longer beach when tide is out. Lovely to look at from up top of the sandy beach backed by coloured cliffs. Cafes and restaurants a plenty nearby.

This was our first exposure to a beach in Portugal. Late afternoon, very warm day, beautiful sand and plenty to beach to walk if the tide is low. It created a desire to experience a lot more of those marvelous beaches!

Such a beautiful 16th century church.

Tranquil, steeped in history and serene.

We met a lovely gentle lady, full of character, who was helping with donations for the roof restoration.

We would highly recommend a visit to this wonderful historical church.

We were the only ones here (it was xmas 2023) so it's hard to rate the staff, but I got the feeling they wouldn't cope with much volume of people and we not that interested in running the business at all, perhaps they are not required to make money? Either way the main thing to note about this place is that the karts are very, very even. We have karted all over the world and this is the first place we have been were there was less that a couple of tenths between karts. So if you are looking for some truly competitive racing against your mates, its worth the drive.

Amazing little beach. Yes it is a bit of a walk along the track to get to it but it is stunning. Plenty of nude and gay men bathing so you can relax and enjoy the water. While it is a sheltered bay, there is a current and a shelf that drops suddenly Into much deeper water.
