Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- CassimaSKBicester, UK371 contributionsOur visit has unfortunately taken place on a cloudy day. The rocks looked more red.
It was still a lovely walk but I wouldn't say there is something specific to see, also the parking was very difficult.Written 22 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is very well kept & safe and the main boardwalk is stroller friendly.Written 23 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andrii BuhaievOdesa, Ukraine161 contributionsA wonderful beach! It's easy to find. We were there in mid-April and swam! The color of the water is mesmerizing, the landscape is so peaceful that you don't want to leave the beach! A wonderful coastline that you definitely have to walk!Written 1 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CassimaSKBicester, UK371 contributionsVery delighted staying just in a few minutes from this beach.
It is quite small although there is always a possibility to find a place. I have noticed it is mainly used by the locals. There are plenty of sunbeds available (you have to pay) but the most visitors are simply coming with their own beach towels.
Feels very safe. There is a facility of going on a boat trip to Benagil and other caves (boats leave every hour).Written 22 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There was less seaweed than other beaches nearby.Written 19 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - debbow2018Hertfordshire, UK37 contributionsA great walk, but beware some of the ‘paths’ are very uneven, steep and loose under foot. Fabulous views and a good way to spend a day...take plenty of water with you.Written 19 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - M R4 contributionssmall beach, often quiet. Though the stairs can be hard to get up and down, it is definitely worth it. A small cove, a gem of a place, quite hidden with a fantastic view. Some waves may get you wet, and you will get more of the small beach when the tide is out, but there are good places to put belongings further back. A shady area slightly overshadowed and the sea and more beach a little further on. An amazing find and a very good place to go, whatever the nature of your visit is.Written 6 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tufty13Beaconsfield, UK103 contributionsWe stayed here for a BH weekend with friends recently.
The cove is incredibly beautiful and there is also a very small beach (accessible some of the day, depending on the tides).
The steps lead down from the cliffs adjacent to the Tivoli Hotel, which also offers direct access to this lovely natural feature.
From here, you can climb up the adjacent cliffs each side, but caution is advised as they are steep and without any fencing, so keep well away from the edge !
Trainers or proper walking shoes are advised for this experience.
The walks either side go for miles, and the view of the coastline is spectacular from the top. You can also see various fauna and seabirds.Written 10 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They're infinitely fascinating, almost guaranteed to be historical, and they are often beautiful.
So it is with a huge sense of fraudulency that I give a review of Ermida de Nossa Senhora da Encarnacao because I did not actually enter the building. When I arrived two ladies were locking the building up and so I missed out.
However, I still feel compelled to review it because the immediate surrounding area offers such great vantage points out across the Atlantic, Algar Seco and the town of Carvoeiro.
In addition to this, I would hope that by reviewing it I will encourage other travelers to Carvoeiro to go and pay this place a visit. It is beautiful from the outside and I imagine it is beautiful inside too. It sits atop the cliff face overlooking the town, so you can hardly miss it. I will definitely make this a priority if I am ever lucky enough to visit Carvoeiro again.Written 17 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The resort felt that it was a little bit understaffed.Written 18 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - rainbowdolphin90Edinburgh, UK773 contributionsAmazing rock formation overlooking the sea. The view through the "doll's eyes" is stunning but you have to have a head for heights to get the full effect. I don't have a head for heights but still experienced magnificent views. (I sent my husband to the edge of the window to get some of the photos). In peak season expect to queue, we went twice, the first time we were alone for most of the time and spent about 20 minutes in the cave just taking in the views. We went back 10 days later and had to queue for about 20 minutes. Still worth the wait.Written 19 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - A DSalford, UK25 contributionsAmazing abstract artwork and sculpture. Thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition by Ana and Chloe. We received a lovely warm welcome and were amazed by the vibrancy of the beautiful work on display. The colour and form gave off an organic vibe and captured my imagination with thoughts of the Algarves incredible flora, fauna, landscapes and seascapes. Thank you for sharing your work with us.Written 20 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
