... and canals and everything the City has to offer - but Vondelpark is the perfect retreat from the concrete and hussel and bussle of the great city, worth taking the time out for a lovely little stroll in nature!
Perhaps the BEST city park that I have ever visited...this lush green park has very relaxing places to walk, picnic, bike, throw ball...including large trees, green lawns, flowers, ponds, trails, benches, bridges...

Other great runs are to the mulden castle and back (30km) or just from park to park within amsterdam.
Also the adjacent park in the South of Amsterdam is certainly worth a visit.

Although the most spectacular floral attraction here is the blossoming of the rhododendron forest (May-June), the park is lovely in any month from March until October.

The square is fascinating for its homage to its namesake but also for the hustle and bustle of people shopping, catching the many buses that stop here, and enjoying the green park that adds color to the spot.
We just stumbled into the awesome little park and square containing manicured lawns, vegetation and bronze/copper statues of Dutch military heroes.

A lot of joggers, walkers and cyclists in the park but that adds to the ambience and security.
Much better than other parks in the center which get immediately overcrowded when the sun goes out of the clouds.

I have been to the area on many occasions and always look forward to a stroll through this park especially during the summer months when the flowers are in full bloom and the birds are singing
Gaasperplas Park is very beautiful with bike, horses and pedestrian roads.

Very nice nature park nearby amsterdam where you can bike, rollerskates, have picnic, lay in the sun and swim.
We spent a very pleasant afternoon cycling round the park, then followed this up the following day with a delicious swim at one of the beaches.

TunFun is a 10 minute walk from the Nemo Science centre and is pretty much hidden in (I presume) a former underground car park.
This makes the place really cool for having an indoor park.
#23 of 49 Nature & Parks in Amsterdam
In the park, a bustling mix of families, couples, groups of friends, parties and the occasional sports club, all join together and make for an entertaining watch while you enjoy the sun.
Whether it is early morning, mid morning, afternoon, sunset or night time, this park always gave us that peaceful, tranquil, quiet but beautiful feelings...
