- Kamal PByron Bay, Australia8,569 contributionsJungfrau railway which operates a rack railway service from Kleine Scheidegg to Jungfrau with a 5-minute stop at Eismeer for the passengers to disembark and enjoy the view of the thick ice layers on the east face of Mt. Eiger was a praiseworthy service to us. This facility gave a fantastic opportunity to see the ice that has deposited over millions of years in the ice age and survived to date. There were scary deep cracks or fissures with greyish tinted ice layers that were clearly visible through the glass windows at the viewing platform. The rail journey was mostly through the tunnel and it was a comfortable and convenient way to travel to and back from Jungfrau. My pilot was Matteo, and he was engaging and professional in his handling of the glider! He had us floating on the air so quickly - it was so beautiful up there. I highly recommend this company, and it was not a scary experience at all - I loved it! Don’t worry about your age either - I’m 62 and had no problems with this excursion! Pascal is very knowledgable and patient and is a good judge of your abilities. He also knows where to find fish. - Glenda K4 contributionsBooked 2 activities with Outdoor during my short stay at Interlaken - Via Ferrata from Mürren and Canyoning at Interlaken. It was my first time doing both, and I had loads of fun! Groups were also sufficiently small for interactions and clear instructions.
Our guide for the Via ferrata tour Kurt was a pro - he gave good tips on how to navigate the iron rods/“steps” and ladders, while constantly checking in that everyone was feeling alright. He also snapped some photos for the group.
At the canyoning tour, Andy did a good job explaining all the instructions (in multiple languages too), and tweaked the route to ensure everyone’s safety (eg switched out a jump after testing it and realising that the floor was too rocky). Hannah and Jan were also friendly and warm throughout the tour.
Thanks for a wonderful, action-packed 2 days! - Mark PJacksonville, FL35 contributionsI was in Interlaken on holiday during the last week of August and decided to try Hang Gliding for the first time. I stumbled upon Bernie and Ed at Hang Gliding Interlaken. These guys are great. The experience was exhilarating! After we landed, my only thought was, I want to do it again and immediately! Bernie and Ed are pros and very funny to boot. I never felt unsafe as it was clearly evident that Bernie and Ed assured every precaution was checked. Plus, they made it blast as they are two pretty funny guys! Bottomline, I do it again in heartbeat and happily do it again with Hang Gliding Interlaken. - Elizabeth P1 contributionI did this with my daughter - to watch one's child jump out of a plane first is not easy but the whole operation felt very secure and safe. Abel and Andy were fun and masterful, but clearly put safety above all else - which is exactly what you want when you jump at 13,000 ft. Easy to put your trust in these folks knowing they are experts. It was truly exhilarating. Even just the ride in the small plane going up to altitude was a great experience. The ground staff made everything super convenient from the pickup, to the drive out to the airstrip to the training and suit up. The whole experience with Skydive Interlaken was fantastic, and I would both highly recommend them and use them again. It was our first time skydiving, and we felt comfortable through the entire process. The staff were all super helpful and friendly and wanted to insure we had the best experience possible, which we absolutely did. I don't think there is anywhere more beautiful to skydive than in Lauterbrunnen, and we are so glad we selected that option for our jump. Family (adults + kids aged 11, 13) visited in August, but was quiet enough not to have any queues or waiting. Helpful staff, great layout of 9 different courses of varied difficulties from easy balance to terrifying scramble. Great equipment meant that I felt totally safe at all times, and I'm not normally great with heights. Planned to go for a long morning, but we spent over 5 1/2 hours until we were finally tired out.
