I just can't get enough of that amazing art work, every time I go back to Rome. This building is nearly 2,000 years old, and still looks like the day it was constructed! An absolutely masterpiece!

Magnificent monument easy access with the pre booked tickets. The only minor issue was the works carried out around the site but this is temporary.

The Forum really is archetypal Rome - ancient but absolutely stunning! This really is a must-see.

It can get quite hot in the middle of the day, so I would recommend arriving early in the day if you can!

Our ticket for the colosseum included the forum and the palatine hill. The whole experience is breathtaking and takes as long as you want.

The most impressive interior of a church that I have ever seen, located in a not well maintained area of Rome (Termini). Marble and gold everywhere you can look and the ceiling is very special.

Very crowded unless you go early in the day. Suggest early morning. At noon or thereafter it is very crowded.

This is my favorite place to visit while in Rome. The Bernini works and the Canova are magnificent. Of course, the grounds are lovely as well. But the treat for us this time was that they had a special exhibition of Guido Reni works. All were sublime.

This area is so lovely, beautiful houses and lots of little restaurants. We would recommend Tonnarello. Lovely area to walk around in the evening.

We visited this Castel in April 2022. It contains many interesting parts which are well worth seeing. The views across Rome from the top are outstanding and not to be missed.

Always since a child wanted to visit Nero’s Golden House. Seems to now to be open at more times. It’s huge of course. Quite difficult to walk around ref the shingly surface, which is not helped by people allowing their children to dredge the surface with their feet. Obviously will take a huge time to archaeologists to find out all about the huge huge palace. The guide was reasonable if a little vague and unfocused. The easiest place to enter is almost next to the Coliseum Metro, otherwise you end up on a unmarked hike up hills and down dales. Two or three mins from the metro. Up into a park which is not so well kept. The way from Monti is baffling. Includes just signs for Rome zoo for some reason.

I'm not usually very interested in sculpture, it's the part I generally skip in large museums. But the Musei Capitolini are quite delightful, it's masterpiece after masterpiece, mostly antique sculpture, and the setting is worth the visit for itself. Some rooms you can pass quickly, I also found the painting section wasn't nearly at the level of the sculpture one, but we very much enjoyed our visit with our 3 children. Don't miss the Palazzo Nuovo (which you access through an underground tunnel).

Nice park with areas for entertainment and rest. We had the best time renting scooters to explore around it. Would go again.

A beautiful palace, and an even better art museum. I went to the Borghese Gallery the day before, and as much as I loved that spot, the crowds were quite busy and the rules were strict. The Doria Pamphilj, however, was much more relaxed. It wasn't nearly as crowded (perhaps because I went in the morning), I didn't need to deposit my bag anywhere, and the staff seemed less overwhelmed and therefore a bit friendlier.

An audioguide would probably be a good investment! There aren't any signs next to the pieces giving any context or history. Just simply the name of the artist.

There's also an impressive collection here. Obviously, Velazquez's "Portrait of Innocent the X" is probably their most famous work. They have some early Caravaggio (my personal favourite), Raphael, Carracci, Titian, Brill, Lippi.

Although the collection is probably not as extensive or well-known as Borghese, I think the gallery provides a competitive alternative. I would also argue the palace itself is much more charming, and overall more beautiful and better taken care of than its rival.

The historic centre of Rome is simply incredible, with ancient history round every corner. Lots of the sites are within easy walking distance of each other.
