The good:
The tour picked us up at our hotel, which was so convenient for us.
Roberta, our guide, was very bubbly and positive, she had a lot of energy, which was fun.
Genaro, our driver, was amazing on the Amalfi coast—holy smokes! I can’t imagine negotiating that drive!
It was nice having some free time in Amalfi, we enjoyed that.
Lunch was fine, though for some reason I had expected it to be somewhere with a view of the sea. It was not. But the food was good, if basic: tomato bruschetta, yummy bread, spaghetti Napoli (red sauce), and a cake soaked in liqueur for dessert (didn’t care for that part).
Mina, our Pompei guide, was very knowledgeable and tried hard to show us as much as she could in two hours time, which is a challenge. She was very engaged and answered all our questions.
The scenery was lovely!
The tour ran pretty much on time despite the crowds everywhere, and we returned at the time we needed to for our evening plans.
The cons:
If you get carsick easily, this tour may not be for you—Amalfi coast is winding, and the road up and over the mountains to Pompeii was the worst part for me.
The guide at Pompei should be provided with a microphone system by the company—it’s difficult for anyone to hear a guide with no mic in those circumstances (open air, walking around, lots of other groups about). Our group had a hard time hearing all that was said, though it wasn’t necessarily her fault. I felt the tour company was being cheap for not providing her a mic system like every other tour group there.
