Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This street was one of the highlights of our trip to Madrid. It might only be a relatively short street but it’s one of the best. It’s a warren of tapas bars, with around 50 or so in the one small area. We started at one end and made our way along them, picking and choosing in a random sort of way. The street follows the curves of the original 12th-century city wall and in some of the bars like Posada del Dragon, you can still see remains of some of the wall.
    Our top three places were:
    1. La Concha
    2. Pousada del Dragon
    3. Casa Luca
La Concha was our absolute favourite. A tiny place full of character that served an amazing vermouth cocktail and complimentary tapas. They make their own vermouth which they sell at €12 a bottle. We left with our backpack clinking because we'd bought two.

We went to this Market while walking around the streets of this lovely area. This is quite a large market place. There are numerous shops. There are fashion shops and deli shops and everything else in between. We did not actually buy anything but the prices looked quite reasonable and would buy almost anything from here if the need arose.

Skip the El Rastro flea market and head straight here. It is filled with wonderful and quality antique shops and is open on Sunday.

About the best place in Madrid for fresh produce. About the only place. After so much meat consumption this was a godsend.

It’s a rather large market in La Latina neighborhood, but many stalls are shuttered. Clearly they don’t have the crowds they deserve.

Nevertheless lots of meat, poultry, and seafood besides the extensive produce. Only thing lacking is a good panaderia or pasteleria.

Very little prepared food - unlike Mercado San Miguel, which is nothing but - the neighborhood is full of good places.

    Well worth a visit.

We booked a wine tasting session for two people during our long weekend of sightseeing in Madrid.

My boyfriend is really into his wines so this was a great way to spend 3 hrs in the afternoon.

JP - the owner and our host - was knowledgeable about the wines and helped us practice our tasting techniques! He even had a map of Spain to show us all the different wine regions. He is really friendly and easy to talk to.

The tasting itself was with 4 beautiful wines and at the end we had booked some Tapas - WOW - the food was as good as the wine. Beautiful Iberica hams, cheeses and fresh bread.

We left quite merry and very full up.
I’d recommend it for anyone who has an interest in Spanish wine and wants to try something different to the usual tourist attractions.

It is a wonderful place to end or start a walk around the Rastro on any Sunday or ... on the way to the Mercado de la Cebada.
In any case, CARAMELOS de PACO is a magical place with sweets everywhere: the walls, the shop windows, are sold with or without boxes or bags. There are chocolates, sweets, cookies of all kinds & sizes, ice cream, among many many different kind of sweets.
For those of us who are a few years old ... it is the same people who have served this beautiful store for several decades ... their children & grandchildren: but with the same passion for sweets. Pure flavor and color in the center of LATINA: you must go and ... do not forget to take the children: without doubt it is the best excuse!

Great selection of jamons. They helped me find a few jamons, a cheese, and a wine to last me a few days in Madrid. Very good, and great customer service, since I was just starting to adjust to Spanish, he helped me in mostly English. I appreciate that.

We saw this store during a walking tour of Madrid and had to go back. If you are interested locally made items, this is it! I bought some beautiful bowls made in Granada and my friend bought a wool scarf and a leather belt. If I could have had more room in my luggage, I would have bought more. Owner was super nice.

It is really a hidden gem in the historical center of Madrid. This tiny shop was founded by the actual owner´s great, great -grandfather. It sells accessories related to the cattle and the countryside, harnesses, saddlery, bells for the cattle, walking sticks, loom woven textiles etc.
They also sell espadrilles ( specially in summer time ), but that is not the core product of the shop.

The owner and sales attendant are delightful, and they take a lot of pride in what they sell.

The first time I buy hemp in Spain and the quality price is very high. Strawberry, Amnesia, in my opinion, other level.
