Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- David SMiddlesbrough, UK2,381 contributionsA short walk from the cruise terminal. Columbus and his men allegedly prayed at this ancient church before setting off for the New World. This really is a beautiful church with a beautiful altar and a hand-carved wooden ceiling.Written 8 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ianjmc85Liverpool, UK455 contributionsCalled here as our first port of call on a Canarian cruise. Nice quiet relaxed town, traditional buildings and quirky back streets, nice beach and promenade to stroll along.Written 11 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Eagle_dkCopenhagen, Denmark394 contributionsOne night transit from Tenerife to VGR at this small, centrally located hotel. Nice room on 4th floor with comfy beds and great view towards la Torre and the tranquil park. The temperature adjuster in the shower a bit difficult to operate, otherwise everything worked fine.
As pointed out by other guests the reception area is under refurbishment and a bit messy. The temporary facilities work OK, including the small breakfast area, but here you should avoid early morning when it’s crowded with hiking tourists. Quite nice breakfast, better than expected. Friendly staff. Recommended for short stays and exploring San Seb.Written 11 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is next to the church.Written 9 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

Standard Canarian Black Sand Beach, which was nice to stroll around, but boy was it windy.

- Graeme BLos Cristianos, Spain25,980 contributionsThis place is in Calle Real near the Church, nowhere near the Torre del Conde Park, as suggested in the main photo.
Its is in an old house & full of useful information leaflets on the Island.

it was good to see itWritten 11 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - David DDevon, UK27,113 contributionsSaturday 16th October and we visited the historic City of San Sebastián, the Capital of the Island.
No visit to the City is complete without a visit to see this ancient Fortress, which is located in Torre del Conde Park.
It was built by Hernán Peraza "El Viejo" between 1445 and 1450. Peraza was the territorial Lord of the Canary Islands and founder of San Sebastián.
The tower is one of the last remaining medieval fortifications on the Canaries. It is reported to be the oldest building on La Gomera and considered the most important example of military architecture in the region.
When we visited the Tower it was not possible to go in, the entrance was cordoned off. It is not a very tall or wide structure so only takes a couple of minutes to walk around. It is 15 metres high, and about 40 metres in perimeter
Nearby the Tower, there is a plaque on the ground, which was unveiled by King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia on their visit to San Sebastián on 28th November 2006. It commemorates the centennial of the first royal trip of Don Alfonso XIII to the Canary Islands, he arrived on a State Visit in Port of Luz in 1906.
Cristóbal Colón (Christopher Columbus) is one of the guests that stayed here.
It was designated as world heritage site in December 1990.Written 9 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Graeme BLos Cristianos, Spain25,980 contributionsCompared to the underwhelming bust of Christopher Columbus just up the road behind it, this is a very good Statue.
A very proud stance, with a lot of detail, hopefully accurate. If you put this much work into a Statue, hopefully you make it accurate.
The town can be proud of this tribute a great man.Written 13 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
